“A player that we scouted heavily,” is how the Indianapolis Colts celebrated the entry of their new CB Sauce Gardner. Despite incurring a hefty cost to exchange their wide receiver, Adonai Mitchell, in a recent trade with the New York Jets, the team is currently looking forward to enhanced results in the games ahead.

Ahead of the Jets’ upcoming clash against the Atlanta Falcons, their new CB Sauce Gardner took a moment to clear the air surrounding his trade. Marking the latest change as a “great situation”, the 25-year-old made it clear that he had no intentions of moving away from the Jets.

“I didn’t even have time to process it all the way. I just knew I was coming into a great situation,” he said, as reported by the Indianapolis Colts’ beat reporter Jake Arthur.

The Sauce Gardner trade saw the Indianapolis Colts acquire the two-time First-Team All-Pro cornerback from the New York Jets. The Jets received the Colts’ first-round picks in 2026 and 2027, plus wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, in exchange.

Gardner had previously signed a record four-year, $120.4 million extension with the Jets in July, making him the highest-paid cornerback at the time. The Colts, who had a 7-2 record at the time, view the move as an all-in bid for the playoffs, while New York enters a rebuild by stockpiling future draft capital.

“I called Ahmad; he’s in great spirits. I told him this is a business decision, and he understands that. The Jets made a business decision. They couldn’t turn it down, and Ahmad deserves to be on a winning football team,” he told ESPN.

With the news all over the media channels, Gardner is expected to arrive in Indianapolis on Tuesday night and plans to start practicing on Wednesday. After missing the week 8 game because of a concussion, his place in the playing roster is not clear. However, there’s hope in Indianapolis that he could play this Sunday in the International Series game against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin.
