The Indianapolis Colts vs. the Atlanta Falcons game in Berlin saw an unexpected move from the officials. The Colts took back the lead in the game just a minute later. Alec Pierce made an incredible catch in the end zone for a 37-yard touchdown from Daniel Jones. Two defenders surrounded him, but he still managed to grab the ball with a perfect throw right between them.

However, running back Jonathan Taylor found himself overruled as the Colts’ drive stalled and ended with a 53-yard field goal attempt that was missed. While Taylor appeared to carry the ball past the marker, the officials still ruled him four yards short. No turnover or dramatic stop as he simply didn’t get the extra yard, or so the ruling says. And yes, that decision has stuck so far, even with replay tools at the ready.

After an exciting first half filled with big plays, both defenses started to tighten up. Neither the Colts nor the Falcons could manage a third-down conversion, with Atlanta failing three times and Indianapolis four. While The Kid LAROI performed during the halftime show, the fans had enough to say about the ref’s disappointing call.

Fans lash out at the ref’s inadequate call over Jonathan Taylor’s first touchdown

Soon after the ref denied any appeals on the call, fans were quick enough to lash out at the officials. Reacting to the social media post pointing out the bad call, a fan made this a recurring issue in the ongoing season. “Classic NFL refs this season,” he wrote.

The comment made sense as this wasn’t the first time the Colts became a victim of the unexpected call. During their Week 2 game vs. the Denver Broncos, the Broncos appeared to secure a 28-26 win when the Colts missed a 60-yard field goal. However, a rare 15-yard leverage penalty was called on Denver at the last second, giving Indianapolis a second chance.

Another fan simply appealed the refs to get better at their decisions. “REFERRR BETTERRRR,” he wrote.

The call didn’t just disappoint the Colts but also invited direct hate from their fans. Despising the unexpected incident, a fan said: “Ya that was absolutely bull s**t!! F**ing idiots always continue to impress!” Currently lagging behind with a 16-17 scoreline, the Colts could’ve been ahead of the Falcons if the call was turned in their decision.

Naming the unexpected call as “cheating”, a fan wrote: “Yea they cheating us I seen a couple times they did that.”

Another fan expressed shock over the fact that the coaches didn’t step forward to challenge the inadequate call. “Did this twice today actually with no coaches challenge on either. Unacceptable,” he wrote.

The Falcons’ defense stayed strong, forcing the Colts to settle for a 34-yard field goal after a key sack by Brandon Dorlus, their fifth of the game. Despite Mike Badgley’s kick, Atlanta’s red-zone stand kept momentum on their side. With both teams battling hard, this game is far from over.
