They didn’t just win. They made it look good. And what added to that look was Dan Quinn getting hit by backup QB Marcus Mariota and getting up like a champ. And the locker room loved every second of it.
After the game against the Raiders, the Commanders players opened up on how Dann Quinn getting it somehow fired them up.

Late in the first half, contact pushed Marcus Mariota toward Washington’s bench and straight into Quinn. The coach went down hard—hat and headset flying—while a cut on the bridge of his nose left a streak of blood across his moustache.
Trainers patched him up at halftime—no stitches needed—and he came back like nothing happened, calling plays in the second half.
Post-game, Mariota reflected on the collision with his head coach: “I felt so bad. I was trying to hold him up as much as I could… But he bounced up like a champ.”
Tyler Biadasz was even more blunt, saying, “I was just like, ‘he’s a bad mother——.’ But he’s a fighter, he’s great. Gritty as fu–. And that’s a mentality we have too, you know.”

Did Dan Quinn's sideline hit ignite the Commanders' explosive win over the Raiders?

The locker room piled on the praise. Andrew Wylie called Quinn “a tough MF,” Chris Paul labeled him an “absolute warrior” whose bounce-back “juiced everybody up,” and Chris Rodriguez leaned on the team’s motto: “BMF. Bad Mother—you know, you can finish it … He got us lit.”
The Commanders didn’t just walk away with a win. Their head coach walked away with a whole new level of street cred. And his play-calling was just as sharp as his grit.
Dan Quinn’s offense got everything right vs. the Raiders
Dan Quinn’s group came out swinging, and it set the tone early. Deebo Samuel nearly took the opening kickoff to the house, giving Marcus Mariota a short field for his first touchdown drive since 2022.
Mariota looked steady, going 15-of-21 for 207 yards through the air, rushing for another 40, and showing just enough mobility to keep Las Vegas off balance. By the time Jeremy McNichols broke free for his career-long 60-yard run, Washington’s offense was humming.
The Raiders tried to hang in behind Tre Tucker, who put up a monster line with 145 yards and three touchdowns, including a late 61-yard bomb. But Washington kept answering.

Rookie Jaylin Lane shook off an early drop by housing a 90-yard punt return in the third quarter, blowing the game wide open. By then, the Commanders had piled up over 200 yards on the ground and forced the Raiders into desperation mode.
What stood out most wasn’t just the highlight plays, but the balance. Washington got contributions in every phase. Efficient quarterbacking, explosive runs, special teams fireworks, and enough defensive stops to slam the door. Dan Quinn’s offense didn’t just find rhythm; it found identity. Against Las Vegas, the Commanders got everything right.
