The 2025 NFL season is getting even worse for the Washington Commanders. After their 16-13 loss against the Miami Dolphins, they are now third in the NFC East, with the hopes of reaching the playoffs almost over. Based on the team’s underwhelming performances and injury problems, many suggested that Jayden Daniels should be redshirted for the rest of the season. When asked about the QB on 106.7 The Fan, former Commanders’ coach Jay Gruden was having none of it.

“No, I want to show the world that this guy’s back,” said Gruden. “I’m tired of the narrative that he’s too little; he’s going to get injured all the time. I want to have a great last 2 games this season. I want him to win both games and put the NFC East on a warning track for the Washington Commanders come next year when he’s fully healthy for 17 games.”

Jay Gruden is betting on Jayden Daniels’ return to change the narrative in his favor.

The QB sustained multiple injuries in 2025 and has been called an injury-prone player. In Week 2 against the Packers, he suffered a sprained knee that sidelined him for several weeks. He returned in Week 5, but sustained another hamstring strain against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. On his second return in Week 9, he suffered from a dislocated elbow and has been recovering since then, with no confirmation of his return in Week 13.

The Commanders will face the Cowboys and the Eagles in their final two games of the league. According to Jay Gruden, it will be the perfect time for Daniels’ return. A convincing performance against them will make the other teams worried about him in the next season, and also change the fans’ perspective of him.

Unfortunately, it is not only Jayden Daniels who is injury-prone. If the Commanders’ entire season is scrutinized, it becomes apparent that injuries are recurring throughout the locker room.

Injuries have been the Commanders’ biggest obstacle

The Washington Commanders are 3-8 in the league. With such a poor performance, the first thing that comes to mind is the mistakes that the team has been making in every game. However, the Commanders have an even greater problem – a squad filled with injuries.

From the beginning of the season itself, multiple players have sustained injuries, and the numbers are increasing every week. As things stand at the end of Week 11, various players, including Jayden Daniels, are confirmed to be out. Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Treylon Burks are also among them. The injury report from Week 11 speaks volumes about their current condition.

With so many injuries, it affects the squad’s core, further degrading the performances. The Commanders will be facing the Denver Broncos at home. The Broncos are 9-2 and first in the AFC West. It will be a challenging game for the Commanders. There are still a few days left for the face-off. If a few of the players return, it will definitely be a boost for the home team, who are in desperate need of a win.
