It has been an eventful year for Pittsburgh Steelers backup QB Skylar Thompson. It all started with the Steelers signing him as a backup QB in January. Then, fans learned about a new addition to Thompson’s life as he got married to his girlfriend, Bre Thompson, in April 2025. And now, nearing the end of 2025, Thompson’s wife has another exciting announcement to share.

On November 05, Bre Thompson, in a collaboration post with her husband, Skyler, took to Instagram to announce the arrival of a new member in the Thompson family… wait for it… a brand-new baby Thompson! The pregnancy news soon made headlines as she posted a cute, candid picture of herself holding her baby bump and a series of ultrasound images, with Skylar in what appeared to be a forest. The picture was captioned “A gift from heaven… baby Thompson coming May 2026.”

Skylar Thompson and Bre Thompson’s story goes back long before they exchanged vows. Their relationship became public when Bre shared an Instagram post on April 3, 2023, captioned simply, “Me & u.” A few months later, on July 9, Skylar followed suit with his first post featuring Bre, a quiet black heart saying more than words could.

Bre, a Missouri State University graduate and teacher at the Smithville School District, has long been her husband’s biggest supporter. She’s often cheered him on publicly, celebrating both his career and their milestones together. Only a month after getting engaged, the couple returned to social media with even bigger news: their wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Their joint post, filled with sunlit photos and shared smiles, came with one simple caption: “The Thompsons.”

But it looks like the year 2025 has been all about a series of happy announcements for Skylar Thompson. And as expected, when the couple made the announcement on Instagram, fans poured in with their blessings and wishes.

Fans showered Bre and Skylar Thompson with lots of love

As soon as the Instagram post popped up on the fans’ screens while scrolling through social media sites, they were quick to react to it. One simply wrote, “so happy for you guys!” while another fan jumped in with all caps on, “LET’S GO.” You can literally feel the joy and excitement of the fans in their comments.

Another comment read, “Awww I’m so happy for you guys I love this,” and another excited fan chimed in, claiming the announcement to be the showstopper: “Soooo excited this is the main event.” It must have been exciting for both Bre and Skylar Thompson to receive so much love and excitement from the fans. But the congratulations weren’t confined to just their fandom.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ official Instagram page commented, “Congratulations!” Even Skylar’s teammates joined the celebration on Instagram. Steelers’ wide receiver and punt returner Calvin Austin III posted a blessing and praying hand emoji.

Also, Detroit Lions’ cornerback D.J. Reed commented, “Congrats brother,” with a praying hand and red heart emoji, and Steelers QB Will Howard’s girlfriend, Skyler Skoglund, commented, “So happy for you!”

Skylar Thompson and Bre have many big announcements to make in 2025, and this one was one of the biggest ones of their lives. While Skylar is waiting for his chance with the Steelers to get some action on the field, he must be happy with the off-field announcement and the new addition to the family.
