The Buffalo Bills don’t even have a winning record so far in the season and yet they are number 2 in the AFC East. With Josh Allen at the helm, many would have thought that it’s a foregone conclusion that the Bills would make it to the playoffs. But after the loss to the Denver Broncos, a team that entered the gridiron with a losing record at 4-5, there are dark clouds over their chances.

After losing that game, they again improved to 6-6, and Allen is going as strong as ever. So, even if they do make it to the playoffs this season, will they be one of the worst teams to do so?

It seems difficult that the Bills will make it to the playoffs. In the upcoming weeks, they have to face tough opponents such as the Kansas City Chiefs, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Miami Dolphins. Based on their current track record, it seems that they will end the season 8-9 and miss a playoff berth.

But Allen is alive and kicking and they also had a blowout win against the Dolphins when they faced each other for the first time this season by a margin of 28 points. They will meet again on January 6.

While making it through the AFC East route looks increasingly difficult, they could succeed through the Wild Card route. The Broncos were 8-8 in 2011 and were tied for first place in the AFC West division. They managed to beat two teams that were better placed and just like that, they earned a place in the playoff. When faced against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they managed to beat the 6x Super Bowl Champions during overtime.

Similarly, The Carolina Panthers in 2014 had a losing record at 7-8-1 and went on to the playoffs while being at the bottom of their division. In fact, no team in the NFC South division had ended the regular season with a winning record. Despite having an injured quarterback who could not give his best, they managed to beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-16 in the Wild Card round.
