CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys showed exactly what’s at stake this season after a gritty 40-37 overtime win against the New York Giants.

The Boys now sit at 1-1, having scored 60 points in their first two games. The offense still has its ups and downs, so the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears won’t be any easier.

But Chicago’s shaky secondary gives Lamb another shot to extend his four-game 100-yard streak and prove why he’s one of the league’s most reliable receivers. The equation is pretty clear now:

As long as the bond between Lamb and Dak Prescott clicks, the Cowboys offense can compete with anyone.

Despite the strong finish against the Giants, Lamb didn’t shy away from criticism:

“Last week, the situation fell through my hands.”

He said this reflecting on the drops that haunted him in the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Those early mistakes disrupted the Dallas offense and made it sputter.

But against New York, he turned it around, hauling in nine catches for 112 yards, including clutch receptions in the fourth quarter and overtime.

This week, we stepped up. It’s all about being resilient. Diversity is gonna hit. It’s all about your response… I felt like I was myself again. Once we hit the fourth quarter, I knew it was my time to turn up,” Lamb said.

The wide receiver also applauded Prescott’s leadership, praising his ability to keep the team focused under pressure.

“His resilience, the aura, it reeks in the huddle. We understand that we know we got [No. 4], as far as willing to step up in these situations,” Lamb said. When Prescott steps up, so does the team. “Who else is willing to step with him? And for us as a team — the unit — we came together and we ended this game.”

On the Boys’ first win under head coach Brian Schottenheimer, Lamb said,

“I’m happy for him as a head coach. Obviously, leading us and leading his troops, continuing to instill resiliency. Every game ain’t gonna be the best, and as long as we can come out with a victory, I feel like that’s gonna be the most important thing out of everything. We’re gonna go back, learn about it, learn everything that we made a mistake on, and it’ll be better next week.”

He stressed that the team would learn from mistakes and improve week by week.

The Cowboys now face a stern test in Week 3 against the Bears, who are likely to focus on slowing down Lamb and the rushing attack. The Cowboys will need their star receiver firing on all cylinders. If Lamb and Prescott keep connecting, Dallas can turn this tough road trip into another step forward in their quest for consistency and, ultimately, a playoff push.

CeeDee Lamb’s message to Schottenheimer

Beyond his own bounce-back, Lamb made a pointed appeal for more opportunities for George Pickens, who made a major impact against the Giants.

You started to understand how much of a demon he really is,” Lamb said. “He could take over the game and he’s ecstatic, man. He’s electric. Just give him opportunities. I mean, he drew like five [defensive pass interference calls]. Do what you want with that information.”

Pickens backed up Lamb’s words with five catches for 68 yards, a clutch 6-yard touchdown late in the game and drew five defensive pass interference calls that shifted field position. Lamb clearly wants GP3 to be more involved. With defenses stacking to stop the run, Lamb said,

“They’re going to have to stack the box [against us]. And once there’s only one safety up there, it’s game on.”

His insistence on more looks for Pickens signals a desire to unleash another weapon in the Cowboys’ offense.

The Giants’ win proved Dallas isn’t backing down. Lamb’s words and play lit a fire. But the real test is sustaining it when defenses tighten. Keep that edge, and close games turn into earned wins.
