Jerry Jones made sure he didn’t sit quietly on the deadline day. The Cowboys owner brought in former Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. The move instantly turned heads in the Big D. But before Wilson could even unpack his bags, the Cowboys linebackers coach had a message waiting for him.

When Dave Borgonzi was asked if it was too early to call Wilson a possible green dot for the Cowboys, he didn’t sugarcoat his answer. “I think that all kind of works itself in practice. I think to sit here and talk about it before we hit the practice field would be unfair.”
That’s as straightforward as it gets. For Borgonzi, reputation doesn’t matter until it translates on the field. He’s got to prove his spot like everyone else. And it’s a crucial chance for Wilson too.

Back in Week 3, the Bengals started rotating rookie Barrett Carter into the lineup, saying they wanted to “keep Wilson fresh.” Six weeks later, that plan went out the window. Suddenly, the veteran found himself on the move.
However, his arrival could be a real difference-maker for the Cowboys. The NFC East is a dogfight, and Dallas knows every defensive edge matters. Jerry Jones certainly thinks Wilson fits exactly what they need.

“Some guys have the ability to see a certain key and at the same time take a step up in the hole. He knows how to get in the gaps right now. For what we need right now, he can come in immediately and help us at linebacker.”
However, in the process, Jones also fulfilled Wilson’s wish.

Logan Wilson made a bold call, and Jerry Jones made it happen
Back in late October, Wilson finally said what many around the Bengals locker room had started to sense. His role was shrinking. Over the last few weeks, rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight began eating into his snaps, taking over in the team’s two-linebacker sets. That didn’t sit right with the veteran.
So, he made it official and asked for a trade. And that’s where Jerry Jones stepped in.

By trading for him, the Cowboys’ owner didn’t just add another linebacker; he granted Wilson’s wish.
Even with two years still left on his contract in Cincinnati, Dallas took on the rest of his deal.
As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported, “The Cowboys will be paying him the rest of his salary… The remaining amount, which needs to be paid, is said to be $2.684 million.” For Jones, money wasn’t the question. Fit and hunger were.

Now, over in The Big D, the Cowboys sit at 3-5-1. It’s not the record they wanted, but the season’s far from over. They believe Wilson’s arrival can be the spark that flips their defense, and maybe, their playoff push, around.
