The Cowboys are 3rd in the NFC East division with 1 win and 2 losses. While Dak Prescott is trying to win games, he will certainly miss his receivers and other players in the Week 5 game against the NY Jets. Here is the updated injury report before the clash at MetLife Stadium.

The QB will be playing without two main receivers. CeeDee Lamb is battling an ankle injury, while Kavontae Turpin is out with a problematic foot. This year, Lamb has logged 16 receptions for 222 receiving yards in 3 games. Turpin played 4 games and recorded 11 receptions for 159 receiving yards and a touchdown. He also contributed with 6 rushes for 23 yards.

That’s frustrating. We’re going to have players back though that are coming…But yeah, that’s a setback for us. Lamb, of course, is a real serious loss for us,Jerry Jones said. Thankfully, however, from what head coach Brian Schottenheimer said, it looks like Lamb is not going to be out for too long.

Though he revealed the recovery status with a positive update that Lamb was “moving around good.” He also accepted that the receiver will not play against the Jets. “I think the window is getting smaller,” he said while talking about the return timeline. That might be the only reason the Cowboys did not put him on the injured reserve list.

Turpin, who has also returned kickoffs for 405 yards, was ruled out Friday after he sat out Thursday’s practice due to the foot injury he suffered after the Week 4 game against the Packers. The Cowboys will rely more on Jalen Tolbert and Miles Sanders for punt and kick returns and may even look to rookie fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue.

As far as the Cowboys are concerned, Tolbert is second behind Turpin in kickoff return yards (105) and fifth (behind 3rd placed Lamb and 4th placed Turpin) in receiving yards with 101 yards to his name.

Then again, it’s not like that puts all of Prescott’s worries to bed.

Dak Prescott will be without his 2 protectors & 1 more

Dak Prescott will take the field against the Jets without two of his starting linemen and one of his veteran defenders.

Guard Tyler Booker remains sidelined after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 3. Before the injury, the 21-year-old rookie started all three games and played 224 offensive snaps. His absence leaves a gap inside, and rookie T. J. Bass will continue to step in at right guard.

On the outside, Dallas loses tackle Tyler Guyton, who is in concussion protocol following the 40-40 tie with Green Bay. In the first 4 weeks of 2025, he logged 280 offensive snaps. Now, Nate Thomas is expected to take over at left tackle.

The third blow comes on defense. Safety Malik Hooker will miss the Jets game after injuring his toe in that same matchup with the Packers. Hooker has been one of the most trusted defenders in four weeks, recording 20 tackles (12 solo). Over his nine-year career, he has appeared in 104 games with 80 starts, logging 14 interceptions, 381 tackles (245 solo), and 4 fumble recoveries. Juanyeh Thomas and Donovan Wilson might replace him in the lineup.

The Cowboys will play the Jets without major offensive gaps. George Pickens and his fellow receivers need to continue to perform at the high level they’re doing. Otherwise, they aren’t very far from the 3rd loss of the season.
