It’s been two days since Micah Parsons was shipped to the Packers on a record deal, but the noise hasn’t come remotely close to shutting down. The majority of Cowboys fans shared one common sentiment: Jerry Jones was the problem. But when a former Redskin jumped in to echo the same message? Of course, the Dallas fans switched sides and stood with Jerry Jones. Because obviously, their hatred for the Redskins far outweighs the dislike for Jerry, a rivalry between the two teams that has been played 130 times, resulting in the Cowboys’ 79 wins over Washington’s 49.

Off the field, even former players are mincing words against their rivals. Ryan Clark is no different. He recently pointed out the wrongdoings of Jerry in a statement, which invited huge waves of backlash from the Cowboys fans. But what did he say? Taking to his X, Clark stated: “Jerry Jones ruined the Cowboy’s chances at a Championship. At least for the rest of his lifetime. Ego, pride, & lack of respect for other professionals convinced him that being right was more important than being good. Trading Parsons is a mistake!” Ouch! A clear jab. But he didn’t end there.

Clark continued, “There’s no larger separation of ownership & labor than the NFL… and there’s no owner who believes that more than Jerry Jones. You own the team, not the players. That’s a district separation. Hopefully, someone close to him will tell him that.” But this isn’t a new thing. If we look into the past, the hatred from the former Redskin will be crystal clear.

Yes, the complexities of being the owner of arguably the most famous franchise in the world are a struggle fans would never understand. But it’s not too hard to realize what Jerry did wasn’t ideal. It’s fair not to be willing to give Micah the bag he got at the Packers. But it’s the way he handled things. He spent months poking the bear. From questioning Micah Parsons’ commitment, his fitness, and leaking whispers about contract friction. It all added up to poison in the well.

And it reached the point of no return when former defensive back turned analyst, Clark, revealed something. Remember when Jerry Jones said that Micah’s agent told us to shove the proposed contract up our a–s, which of course, never happened? Taking the same topic for revelation on his X, ex-NFLer quipped, “I just hit David Mulugheta and I simply asked him, I said, ‘Did you tell Jerry Jones to stick the contract up his A–S?’ … And he laughed. And he said, ‘I’ve never used that phrase in my life.’”

Putting the star player under a bad spotlight every step of the way turned out controversial for the billionaire owner. All of this could’ve been done quietly. And, perhaps, Ryan Clark isn’t hating on Jerry because he’s a former Redskin. He is doing so, as Clark didn’t like his approach, like many others, and that he is now an analyst, so that’s his job. But the Cowboys fans aren’t able to look past that Washington mask, and they’re biting back at Clark.

Cowboys fans side with Jerry Jones

Yeah, if Clark made that video thinking the Cowboys fans would agree with him, he is wrong. One fan wrote, “I 100% disagree with this assessment. Cowboys now have $43,000,000 in cap space and 2 first-round picks to trade for whatever is needed, and we got a real, Pro Bowl, run stopper.” Sure, but the team also lost the best pass rusher in the league, who didn’t even reach his ceiling yet. Could be both ways!

Signing Parsons to $47 million per would have also been a massive mistake. Now they have a solid DT, and space to move on other contributors. Micah is a stud but his price tag was too high with the other cap obligations the Cowboys are already locked into,” one echoed the same sentiment. We all know that Jerry was obligated to pay him $47 million. But it’s all about the way he handled it. And maybe, just maybe, if he did it the right (and respectful) way, Micah would’ve made a sacrifice.

You have never owned a football team and bet on yourself and won a bowl, stay in your lane brother your not the gambler,” another remarked. The frustration is real. And Clark, who isn’t the owner of a football team, had to take on his face as the angry comments kept flooding his X post.

One pointed out, “Judging how others do or don’t respect someone else, when you don’t personally know either party, is, well….” Overall, we don’t know what went on behind the scenes. We don’t know if Micah was at fault, too. But we do know what was made public, and that was Jerry, who arguably tried to ‘publicly’ paint Micah as the bad guy.
