Dak Prescott and George Pickens almost lit the AT&T Stadium on fire in the Week 4 matchup against the Packers. After CeeDee Lamb was out of the game, they took the responsibility upon themselves. While Prescott completed 31 of 40 passes for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns, Pickens scored 2 touchdowns in 8 receptions for 134 yards. Now, in the week 5 game, the Cowboys are hoping for another dominant run. Here’s why.

First, the signal caller would be happy as the Jets are one of the three teams (the other two being the Dolphins and the 49ers) that have recorded no interceptions yet. Also, out of the 5 fumbles they have recorded till now, 4 have come in their rushing game. Even then, they haven’t recovered any of them. The Cowboys QB is in red-hot form after leading the league in passing yards (1,119), pass attempts (166), and pass attempts per game (41.5) after 4 weeks.

On the other hand, Pickens has been unstoppable in his recent form. While he hasn’t fumbled the ball once, he has also improved his performance with every game. After starting the season with only 3 receptions for 30 yards with no scores, he scored 1 TD in the next 2 games before going big time against the Packers.

Also, he has gained the trust of Prescott big time. Overall, in 21 receptions, he has gained 19 first-downs for the team. So, against a defense that has not fumbled the ball even once in 4 games from the receivers, he would get a free pass. And that would mean a free pass for Pickens.

That is why Dak Prescott praised his receiver after tying the week 4 game. “But it definitely was a show, right, for the rest of the league and put them on notice. So, it’s about continuing to build and understanding when Cee comes back that you just got another big time weapon. Got two 1s and guys that you can move around.” That’s a pretty big statement.

Pickens will hit free agency next year, and with such wonderful performances, he is making a strong case. Former Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton even claimed that Pickens could get a deal somewhere in the range of $30 million, if he keeps going the way he is going. However, things are easier said than done when it comes to Jerry Jones‘ contract extensions.

For now, the QB-WR duo wants to crash the Jets. It wouldn’t be easy though as they also have some injury related concerns.

Can Dak Prescott-George Pickens repeat week 4 success?

Not only the Jets, Even the Cowboys haven’t performed at their best level yet. The Cowboys have also recorded only 1 interception in 4 games. Even in the fumbles, they only have one. So, the Jets offense could also have a smooth run if they really get behind their QB Justin Fields.

With 111 carries for 578 yards and 4 scores, they have covered more ground than the Cowboys (96 catches for 492 yards and 6 touchdowns). Even in the receiving game, they have a better yardage per pass (10.1) than America’s Team (9.4). Everything will come down to the game plan and its execution.

The Packers were caught by surprise as Pickens increased his production by volumes (almost doubled it). This time, Aaron Glenn will be better prepared against the Cowboys. Yet the Cowboys have an edge after their week 4 tie, while the Jets are still waiting for the first win in the 2025 season. After losing the week 4 game, he was disappointed and even shouted at his players in the locker room.

So, the game will be much tougher than anyone is anticipating. But Dak Prescott and George Pickens have a much better chance of success than their rivals.
