The Cowboys are missing linebacker DeMarvion Overshown in their lineup this year. He started the 2025 season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, while America’s Team needs more firepower. They are 5th in the league in tackles (346 overall, 219 solo) and 29th with one interception. He recently gave a ray of hope to Jerry Jones.

“Matthew 21:22 – And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith,” he wrote on X on Friday, October 10, while sharing an injury update. As of October 2025, Overshown is nearing a return to practice, with the Cowboys expected to open his practice window later this month. The team hopes to have him back on the field by November, which would be a major boost for their defense.

DeMarvion Overshown was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He missed his rookie season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game. In 2024, he made his NFL debut and quickly made an impact. In 13 games (12 starts), he recorded 90 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 interception returned for a touchdown, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 8 tackles for loss.

He scored his first NFL touchdown on Thanksgiving Day against the New York Giants. His breakout season ended in Week 14 against the Bengals, when he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL, sidelining him for the rest of 2024 and part of 2025. Injuries have played a big part in the struggles, but owner and general manager Jerry Jones says relief is on the way.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan a few days back, Jones said, “That’s a logical way to go. But I also get to see who’s coming. We’ve got (DeMarvion) Overshown coming.”It happens when their linebacker is hit by injuries.

Kenneth Murray Jr. is dealing with a knee injury, but he has been practicing fully all week. He is listed as a full participant each day and looks to be on track to play in the week 6 matchup. Jack Sanborn is out with a concussion. He did not take part in any practices this week and is officially listed as out. There’s no clear timeline yet for when he will return.

The injuries aren’t limited to the defense. They are affecting the offense as well.

Jerry Jones’ team hit by injuries

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping to get star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb back soon after a high-ankle sprain. Lamb has missed the past two games and did not participate in practice this week, keeping him listed as out. On Wednesday, October 8, there was some encouraging news.

Lamb was seen doing rehab work on a side field, the first time he has been outside since suffering the injury in Week 3. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported, “Tyler Booker and CeeDee Lamb going through rehab for high ankle sprains. Positive injury news.” Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News noted that Lamb was using resistance cords during the session. But suggested he may still need “maybe one more week” before he can return to full practice.

Cowboys owner Stephen Jones also mentioned on 105.3 The Fan that Lamb, along with Tyler Booker, Tyler Smith, Tyler Guyton, and KaVontae Turpin, could be back in the next two weeks. Turpin is out with a foot injury. He did not participate in any practices this week and is officially listed as out. His return timeline is still unclear.

Currently, uncertainty around Lamb’s return timeline is prevailing in the Cowboys camp. At best, they will keep him limited in practice. Despite this, the team is optimistic that he could return soon, as he hasn’t been placed on injured reserve and is making steady progress in rehab.
