For star linebacker Micah Parsons, all ties to the Dallas Cowboys got cut the moment owner and general manager Jerry Jones hit the trade button. As Parsons put it, “I didn’t even get to talk to my owner, the person that drafted me. I found out through my agent. So, to me, that emotion side was pointless because the same way he called me into his office, as a man, he couldn’t tell me as a man.” However, as Parsons now terrorizes offenses for the Green Bay Packers, Jones has revealed why that call didn’t go to Parsons.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones responded to Parsons’ comments. As Jerry put it, “I really don’t want to respond to that at all. But that phone call thing got stopped when he told me to take his number off my dial. It was don’t call him anymore. So I quit those calls.” Since Jerry traded Micah to Green Bay, the two have exchanged not-so-subtle jabs at each other. This latest revelation of having deleted Parsons’ number adds one more dig at his former star.

The already frayed relationship between the owner and ex-player has also been highlighted by Jerry on multiple occasions recently. Before Parsons came to Dallas for the Week 4 clash between the Cowboys and the Packers, Jerry had fired one more shot. As the owner had noted, “While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah. As we know, we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl those years. – Some plays it looks beautiful, but then other plays – especially running plays – you wish you had a different formation. – To be trite, we lost games with Micah.” Parsons, for his part, made his presence felt vs. the Cowboys.

In the Week 4 40-40 OT tie, Parsons landed a total of 3 tackles. He also sacked his old quarterback Dak Prescott at Green Bay’s 4-yard line in one play. Still, the relationship with his former teammates remains intact. After the game, Parsons met up with the Cowboys, hugging cornerback Trevon Diggs and Prescott, exchanging words with the team. While the off-field drama and headlines continue, and even while Parsons claims he’s cut ties with Dallas, those old bonds remain strong.

As for Jerry, by trading away Parsons, he got exactly what he wanted. Some premium draft picks, and a lot of capital that he could now spend on the Cowboys. His moves post-Parsons, as well as his latest revelations, hint at major lock-ups for the Dallas Stars’ future.

Jerry Jones’ monetary moves and future plans

Cornerback DaRon Bland got a four-year extension worth $92 million, with $50 million guaranteed and a $22 million signing bonus. Full Hunter Luepke got a shiny new $70 million deal for two years, with a $1.5 million signing bonus. Last but not least, guard Tyler Guyton also received a $96 million contract for four-years. And even with all this, Jerry hints at more extensions looming on the horizon. One such star is the wideout George Pickens.

So far, Pickens has done a lot to impress the Cowboys. With CeeDee Lamb sidelined because of injury, Pickens has seen increasing pressure from defenses, and still managed to deliver. Against Green Bay in Week 4, he hauled in two touchdowns and 134 receiving yards. As Jones praised him recently on 105.3 The Fan, “He’s an exemplary teammate. He’s exemplary in his work preparation. You can see the results of that out there Sunday.” Now, with money still in the bank, Jones has shone a light on Pickens’ future in Dallas.

As JJ further noted on the show, “I’m proud to tell you that we’ve got some outstanding structure in our cap space that will allow us to do a lot of things that I didn’t think (we could) as this time last year. … We paid a price for it. … We can do it now.” If the highlight catches continue from Pickens, he’s going to cash in big once this season is over. For now, we keep watching those explosive plays between Pickens and Dak Prescott, hungry for more.
