The Dallas Cowboys’ offense looks elite with wide receiver George Pickens racking up 36 catches for 607 yards and six touchdowns. Naturally, his market value is on the rise, with the speculation being that a long-term contract would entail him getting north of $30 million a season. But is he willing to stick around in Dallas? Well, Jerry Jones just got a major update on that.

It might just be a rumor, but the Georgia product reportedly expressed interest in staying at The Star for a while with a long-term deal (as per X page NFLRumors). In fact, not too long ago, he had expressed a similar sentiment to Tommy Yarrish of the Dallas Cowboys’ website.
“I wouldn’t mind,” he had said. “The guys in the locker room are super cool; the energy’s great. But like I said, I always want to showcase my talents.”

While Pickens didn’t hesitate to confess his loyalty to the team, Jones has also hinted that his extension is a topic of discussion in the building.
“Any and everything about George Pickens is crossing our mind…” Jones said. “…certainly he’s a topic of interest and discussion because of the success he’s having.”

Now, this circles back to former Cowboys’ defensive end, Micah Parsons. After trading the player, the Cowboys might be able to afford Pickens. But the thing with the WR is that he shares the same agent as Parsons, David Mulugheta. And the contract dispute between the Parson and Jones is not a secret.
When asked if this connection could impact the negotiation for Pickens’ extension deal, he appeared confident.
“Don’t pay any attention to that at all,” he said. “Too much was made of that — that the agent had something to do with the ultimate decision of where we were. It almost had zero to do with it, period.”

If not the Cowboys, Pickens’ thrilling performance in the last few days can easily get him a lucrative deal with several elite teams. The Las Vegas Raiders are also one of the names in the conversation.
Speaking of the Raiders, it seems like Jerry Jones has had his eyes on one of their stars.
Maxx Crosby dashed Jones’ hope for a defensive boost
Be it Parsons’s departure or not, the Cowboys’ defense is under scrutiny. A decent performance against the Washington Commanders cannot hide the fact that they are giving up 401.6 yards per game (worst in the league). And Jones and head coach Brian Scottenheimer are feeling the urgency to fix the issues.
To that end, the Cowboys’ front office has reportedly been eyeing the Raiders’ defensive end Maxx Crosby. And honestly? A look at Crosby’s numbers this season will make it abundantly clear as to why Jones has his eyes on the DE. Crosby has 28 tackles and 10 tackles for loss, along with 4 sacks across the last seven games.
However, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Raiders met with Maxx Crosby on Tuesday to assure him that he is not going to be traded.
So, his $106.5 million extension deal with the Raiders is expected to keep him till 2029. And it seems neither the team nor the player has plans to change that any time soon. The Cowboys and Jones might find a new answer for defense before the deadline on November 4.
