Javonte is really close to his family and has spoken about their support on numerous occasions. The North Carolina alum was born to Jermaine and Shekemia Williams in Wallace, North Carolina. He also has a 5-year-old adoptive sister named Ryleigh, whom the Williams brought home when she was just four weeks old. When Javonte left for college, his parents brought Ryleigh, whose biological parents struggled with addiction.

“I couldn’t take the silence of not having any kids around,” Shekemia said on adopting the baby girl. As for his ethnicity, Williams is African American, and his family is based in North Carolina. Growing up in Wallace, Southern culture deeply influenced him, and the values of hard work, perseverance, and humility came naturally. Additionally, football is an emotion for the community, and it helped Javonte pick the sport early on.

Javonte Williams is reportedly a Christian and has never shied away from showing his strong faith. During the 2022 NFL season, the receiver suffered a major ACL tear against the Raiders on October 2. He revealed that turning to prayer was something that made him get past that tough phase.

“My faith and my support system is what really got me through it. My first two days in Dallas after the surgery, I was in bed and I couldn’t move my knee at all. I was just sitting there staring at the ceiling and asking God, saying, ‘Please help me.’

Javonte Williams kicked off his college football journey at the University of North Carolina in 2018. He had a promising freshman year, in which the 2021 second-round pick rushed for 224 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games. By his sophomore year, Williams emerged as a threat to defense, recording 933 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
