The roar of engines echoed down pit road, but it wasn’t the only spiral cutting through the air. Amid screeching tires and a haze of motor oil, a perfect spiral arced across the asphalt—not from a pro racer, but from a different kind of speed enthusiast. Helmet-free, in streetwear, and with a flick of the wrist, Dak Prescott reminded everyone that sometimes the off-field spotlight can burn just as hot.

Bad boys, big toys—figuratively and literally. That’s the vibe surrounding the Cowboys QB, whose luxury car collection includes a Ferrari, a G-Wagon, and a Cadillac Escalade. When you’re the face of the NFL’s most valuable franchise—valued at $10 billion, per Forbes—there are some perks that come with the pressure. Prescott, who inked a 4-year, $240 million contract, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history, is spending his offseason indulging a different kind of horsepower.

On Sunday, May 4, fans spotted him at the NASCAR Würth 400, held at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Dressed in a bold color-block shirt, paired with a cap and sunglasses, Prescott looked relaxed and in his element, smiling, mingling, and even tossing a football around on pit road. It was an unusual sight at a racing event, but it drew plenty of attention.

Of course, attention isn’t always without controversy. Prescott has found himself under scrutiny from critics who question whether his public appearances and playful offseason activities reflect the urgency Cowboys fans expect after watching yet another season’s hopes let down. Still, for now, the quarterback remains one of the NFL’s biggest off-field stars—living large, staying visible, and drawing heat from fans and media alike as speculation swirls around his next move, both on and off the gridiron.

While the visuals of him throwing the ball should have sent waves of happiness among the fans, they started trolling the leader. It’s clear that recent seasons have frustrated them!

Fans troll Dak Prescott over NASCAR Appearance

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dak Prescott's luxury lifestyle distracting him from delivering the Super Bowl Cowboys fans crave?

Have an interesting take?

Dak Prescott found himself in the crosshairs of social media again—this time for simply tossing a football at a NASCAR event. One fan took a wry jab at the quarterback’s commitment to the team, writing, “Getting ready for a 9-win season.” The remark alluded to a bare minimum expectation after the disappointing 2024 campaign, when the Cowboys held a 3-5 record before Prescott suffered an injury in Week 9 against the Falcons.

Another troll, a self-proclaimed 49ers fan, took things further, mocking both Prescott and Cowboys Nation: “So used to throwing to another team. Now all y’all Cowgirls can bring the comments.” It was a brutal dig, rooted in the team’s postseason struggles. Despite nine seasons with Dak Prescott under center, the Cowboys have yet to reach an NFC Championship Game, let alone win a Super Bowl. That underachievement led another commenter to write, “You really actually showed this clown lol.”

One fan added, “He already lead the league with interception just now 💀,” poking fun at the throw Prescott made at the NASCAR event. While some fans humorously supported the NASCAR staffer who caught the pass, others were less amused—criticizing Prescott’s leadership and playoff record. “Dude doing everything except helping his team be relevant 🙄,” one frustrated fan commented, capturing the overall mood of the thread.

Of course, it’s the offseason, and every player deserves some downtime. Still, the pressure on Prescott is mounting. Fans want trophies, not optics. Three decades of a championship drought are simply too much for such a fabled franchise. And while the quarterback undoubtedly shares that desire, 2025 is shaping up to be a make-or-break year for both Prescott and the Cowboys.
