“The Dallas Cowboys placed RB Miles Sanders on Reserve/Injured and signed WR Jalen Cropper to the active roster from the practice squad. Dallas also elevated WR Parris Campbell from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game at Carolina. Lastly, CB Caelen Carson and WR Jonathan Mingo will remain on the Reserve/DFR list and are both ruled out for tomorrow’s game.”

This information comes from the Dallas Cowboys’ PR account on X.

The wide receiver Parris Campbell was signed to the practice squad on 30th September. After a MCL sprain in training camp, Campbell was placed on injured reserve, and there were speculations that he would miss the entire season. But in early August, Campbell successfully secured an injury settlement. And now, when the team scours through its depth, it has found Campbell as the right fit for Sunday’s game.

Also, Caelen Carson, the 2024, 5th round pick by the Cowboys, suffered a hyperextended knee during training camp and looks like he hasn’t fully recovered. It doesn’t come as a surprise, as right after his injury, he was expected to miss at least five to six weeks. Back in 2024, he played 5 games for the Cowboys and will be looking forward to getting back on the gridiron as soon as possible. But Carson is not alone on the Reserve/DFR list, as WR Jonathan Mingo is also there.

Mingo joined the Cowboys through trade on 5th November, 2024. Although the addition of George Pickens to the team increased Mingo’s chances of becoming a WR3. This would have also allowed him to face less defense, but he will have to outperform Jalen Tolbert first. We are in week 6 of the NFL season, and Mingo is still waiting to see any action on the gridiron.

Well, apart from the major changes, there is some good news in the Cowboys’ locker room as well.

The Cowboys are getting healthier

The Cowboys’ practice session on Thursday was allowed to be covered by the media, and it brought some good news as well.

Star receiver Ceedee Lamb, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3 and missed the two games against the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets, was seen back on the field. What’s more interesting is that he was seen in the practice session without a walking boot.

According to Cowboys beat reporter

Joseph Hoyt, Lamb can return in the next Sunday game against the Washington Commanders.

“Feels like next Sunday against Washington is more of a target for Lamb than this Sunday, IMO.” Hoyt said. But that’s not it,

DeMarvion Overshown, who made history by wearing the number 0 jersey in the 2025 season, is also very close to participating in the practice session. He suffered a brutal injury in 2024, which tore his ACL, PCL, and MCL. But now, the Cowboys expect to open his 21-day practice window in October. The aim here is to get him back on the gridiron by November.
