Stephen A. Smith is not happy with Jerry Jones and his decision. The Dallas Cowboys experienced their season-ending loss to the Green Bay Packers, and that too with a spectacular tally of 48-32. Since then, many, including analysts like Stephen A. Smith, wanted coach Mike McCarthy out of the team.

However, the owner, Jerry Jones, went with his heart and the team’s hopes. He planned to keep McCarthy in the franchise, giving him another chance to excel on the gridiron next season. But Smith isn’t happy as he, in his show, railed against Jones for choosing McCarthy over coaches like Bill Belichick, who is available after 24 years for the position.

In the latest episode of his “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Smith expressed his disappointment and anger at Dallas owner Jerry Jones and his decision to keep Mike McCarthy for the future. The analyst said, “Jerry Jones making the decision to keep him when Bill Belichick is available with six championships on his resume.

He continued, “Recognizing the fact that he doesn’t necessarily need to head a franchise in terms of being a GM and making player personnel decisions, I don’t know why, if you’re Jerry Jones, you don’t consider that.” Concluding his statements, Smith said, “I’m very disappointed in Jerry Jones, very disappointed.

He also angrily mentioned that Jones, who is 81 years old, wonders “how much time he has left on this earth by the way, not as an owner but on this earth.” Smith backed up his statements, saying that despite this, Jones seems to have faith in a coach who hasn’t performed well in the playoffs over the last three years.

Besides this, Smith previously, too, in his ESPN’s “First Take” Thursday morning show, expressed a similar sentiment, saying that this decision is not the wisest. “But I’m thankful, I’m grateful because it essentially ensures that the Dallas Cowboys will not be winning anytime for the foreseeable future… they will not learn.

Although Smith and other analysts aren’t happy with Jones’ decision, the Cowboys team wanted the owner to keep McCarthy in the franchise for multiple reasons.

After much concern among Cowboys fans and the organization about whether to keep head coach Mike McCarthy following their playoff loss to the Packers, team owner Jerry Jones decided. Jones announced McCarthy would be retained, expressing belief in the team’s potential and stating that having McCarthy as the head coach is the best step forward. One significant factor supporting McCarthy’s retention is the positive development of the offense under his guidance in his first year calling plays for Dallas.

The Cowboys led the league in scoring offense (29.9 points per game), showcasing a notable improvement in QB Dak Prescott’s performance, earning 2023 Second-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. Prescott emphasized McCarthy’s impact on his growth and team’s success in a postgame press conference. Additionally, the team has achieved at least 12 wins for three consecutive seasons under McCarthy, marking a significant achievement in franchise history.

This success parallels the Cowboys’ dynasty run in the 1990s, and McCarthy becomes the first Cowboys head coach to achieve this feat.
