The Dallas Cowboys are having a winning season in 2025. That’s what Cowboys legend Michael Irvin is predicting, at least. Dak Prescott and Co. are entering the 2025 season with a lot on their plate. After a 7-10 finish, they’re looking to bounce back under new HC Brian Schottenheimer. The schedule isn’t doing Dallas any favors, though. With matchups against teams that made the playoffs in 2024, including Patrick Mahomes’s Chiefs and the defending champion Eagles, there’s no doubt the road ahead won’t be smooth.
But despite the daunting schedule, Irvin’s feeling pretty optimistic about the Cowboys this year. The Playmaker is calling it a 12-5 finish for Dallas. So, what exactly did the Cowboys legend have to say? Here’s the full story. Recently, Michael Irvin hopped on The Rich Eisen Show. In a fun little segment called the ‘win-loss game,’ the former WR went through the entire schedule, predicting how the season might shake out for his old team.
So, while Irvin had a bunch of wins lined up, he threw in a twist that might not sit well with Cowboys Nation. The former wideout sees a rough patch coming in late November, starting with a loss to Philly on November 23. And it doesn’t stop there. Just a few days later, Dak Prescott and the squad will host Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving. Irvin doesn’t sugarcoat it, he thinks Dallas won’t pull that one off either. “We’ll lose that game,” he said.

Undoubtedly, Thanksgiving has pretty much always been Cowboys territory if you look at the history. Jerry Jones’s team has racked up 34 wins out of 57 Thanksgiving Day games. Indeed, their tradition of playing on Turkey Day kicked off back in 1966, and they’ve been the hosts every single time. That’s over five decades of home-cooked football in Dallas. Jerry Jones’s team is also riding a three-game Thanksgiving winning streak since 2022. The latest came last year, when they beat the Giants 27–20.
Anyway, so after their winning streak comes to an end, as per Irvin, the team will face another loss the very next week. Dallas will take on the Lions after Thanksgiving week, and they’ll lose that primetime game as well, predicts Irvin. Besides that rough patch, he’s also calling a Week 4 loss to the Packers and another late-season stumble in Week 17 against the Commanders.
Michael Irvin’s season finish: Cowboys closing out strong
Jerry Jones’ team had a tough season last year because of injuries, especially with their QB Dak Prescott exiting in mid-November. During the offseason, the team saw some of its key players leave. Zack Martin hung up his cleats, and DeMarcus Lawrence left for the Seattle Seahawks. But the team has also made a few good additions that give hope.
