QB Lamar Jackson is preparing for the AFC title as Don Orlovsky analyses the Baltimore Raven’s offense. The Ravens have become a formidable side with 14 wins this season and the team looks unstoppable right now. Moreover, they will be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs in Baltimore adding to home advantage. Still, NFL expert Orlovsky points out the troubles that can haunt the Ravens going forward in ‘The Rich Eisen Show’.

The elite offense consists of WR Zay Flowers, RB Justice Hill, and a dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson himself. The team always finds a way to outscore the opponents and has defeated the defense of teams like the 49ers with ease. What could go wrong when they face the Chiefs and what is needed to overcome the hurdle? Orlovsky provides his detailed analysis. In Rich Eisen’s show, Eisen asked Orlovsky to shed light on the prospects for Raven’s offense, “What do you think of the Ravens’ performance?”

Orlovsky compared Jackson’s previous performances with the last game against the Texans by acknowledging, “The biggest difference in this Baltimore Ravens’ offense this year and in comparison, to the one that we have seen in the first five or six years of Lamar’s career.” He praised the Ravens’ previous OC Greg Romans but pointed out the persisting problem, “One of the issues was they would consistently struggle to adjust (According to game).”

He also remembered an instance from the past when the Ravens lost against the Steelers. After the loss Jackson admitted, “We had become predictable and the Steelers knew our plays.” After pinning down the problem in the second half, Orlovsky turned focus towards the change in strategy by the new OC in the Divisional round against the Texans, “The halftime adjustment that their new offensive coordinator Todd Monken made was awesome.”

He broke down the play by the Texans first, “Houston was playing a lot of match coverage which is like zone defense until a person on the offense gets in your area and then you match him like it’s man to man.” Orlovsky then explained Moken’s mindset, “Alright if you’re gonna keep doing that what we’re gonna do is create designed quarterback runs for Lamar.” He explained the second strategy “We’re going to create kind of rub or mesh concepts to flood an area and give you too many people to cover.” Orlovsky exclaimed, “It didn’t happen in the past.”

He acknowledged, “Exactly what was the needed change for this offense.” Even Steve Young doubted Jackson’s abilities before but acknowledged that he had become unbeatable. Rich Eisen also asked Orlovsky, “How they (Ravens) match up against the Chiefs’ defense?” Orlovsky knows that it will be tough for the Chiefs but has a belief in the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator that they can usurp Jackson and Co.

One take at a time

As the day doesn?t end with a nice movie, my week doesn?t end without the NFL game day. I never imagined that I would get hooked on the sport so much. I was a big-time MMA fan but the early retirement of Khabib took out the competition and has led me toward the NFL.
