The Dolphins’ 20-17 week 1 win over the Jaguars saw Tyreek Hill lighting the gridiron with emphatic plays. But Hill also grabbed the pre-game headlines as he got detained just outside the Hard Rock Stadium. Relieved soon, but what has unfolded since then has been much of a cat-and-mouse between the wideout and the Miami-Dade police union. Following Hill’s remarks, the union has released an official statement of their own. And it’s not looking good for ‘Cheetah’.
Per the official statement released on 9th September, Tyreek Hill was “uncooperative” with cops and “initiated this unfortunate incident.” The report cleared the air around the situation, stating: “At no time was he ever under arrest. He was briefly detained for driving in a manner in which he was putting himself and others at risk.”

By that statement, the law enforcers were just making sure of everyone’s safety. No matter the stardom of the NFL player. Right? Well, in such cases we cannot really make out who’s doing what extent of damage control. Tyreek Hill’s post-game statement was quite the opposite of what the police union’s statement read.
After a great outing on the gridiron, where he scored an 80-yard touchdown and celebrated with a taunting “handcuffed” celebration, he addressed his detention in front of the press. “I wasn’t disrespectful because my mom didn’t raise me that way. I didn’t cuss, didn’t do none of that,” Hill said. The incident has nonetheless created some chaos.
But the Phins’ WR didn’t stop there; he shared his thoughts on the whole incident.

Tyreek Hill’s uncle had prepared him well!
What happened before the game was far from ideal. The viral photos and videos showed Tyreek Hill was subdued and cuffed with considerable force. However, the latest statement from the PD indicates that they were left with no option. What is and what isn’t true doesn’t matter, as Hill addressed those snaps in front of the media.

Was Tyreek Hill unfairly treated by Miami PD, or was it justified? What's your take?

“What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?” Hill wondered if his identity played a role in how lightly they treated him and if his skin color influenced the way they cuffed him. However, the receiver did clarify he did not want to bring race into all this. But it was a question he couldn’t help but ask himself. The answer? “Lord knows what that guy or guys would have done.”

Meanwhile, he did say that his uncle had prepared him to overcome such a situation. Don’t get him wrong, he’s just surviving like all human beings do. And if you believe life is all about survival, then his uncle’s advice is a must-read. “‘Just listen. Put your hands on the steering wheel and just listen.”
At the end of the day, ‘all’s well that ends well’. And the well? That Tyreek Hill was able to get out on the gridiron and walk the talk.
