The Denver Broncos are looking for their new quarterback after Russell Wilson. Besides Ryan Tannehill and Mason Rudolph, available as free agents, some rookie quarterbacks are also in the limelight for the Orange team. Among those rookies, one is the Oregon Ducks star quarterback, Bo Nix, who recently showed his interest in working with Sean Payton.

However, will Payton be easy to work under, especially when he is looking for a multitasker and a quick decision-making quarterback? With Nix’s name coming up in the draft pick for the franchise, Russell Wilson’s situation repetition is also frightening many.

In a recent episode of DNVR Sports, the hosts, Zac Stevens and Henry Chisholm, discussed how coaches like Sean Payton look for quarterbacks who can go through multiple reads, which is considered essential for the position. Chisholm mentioned that every coach values this skill in a quarterback. While Sean Payton could potentially maximize Bo Nix’s abilities similarly to Russell Wilson, it’s noted that Payton likely prefers quarterbacks who can execute various strategies and adapt their game plan from week to week.

Comparing Russell Wilson’s last situation with Payton and Broncos, the host expressed, “I do think that Sean could maximize Bo Nix in a similar way to how he could maximize Russell Wilson but, I don’t think that what Sean wants is the ability to do a whole bunch of different things. I think he wants to be able to have a different game plan every single week and surprise teams and be able to play to your weak or play to your strengths and minimize your weaknesses, and I think with Bo Nix, he is just kind of a limited player,” compared to what Payton seeks in a quarterback.

Payton called Wilson, a good and talented player, however, they parted ways in early March, because of the contractual issues, and the past season’s arguably poor performance (8-9). As per NFL enthusiasts, it was reported that Payton wasn’t able to bring out the best from Wilson, and therefore, the bond between them broke. As mentioned, the coach wants a quarterback who is adaptable to changes every week, and as per Stevens and Chisholm, Nix and Payton’s connection might result in the same situation as that of Wilson.

However, former NFL QB Robert Griffin III sees this scenario as a great fit.

Bo Nix is being considered as a potential quarterback for the Broncos. Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III believes this could be a great match for both parties. Nix, who had an impressive college year, was a five-year starter and received accolades like Offensive Player of the Year in the Pac-12.

He showcased his skills in his final season, throwing for a high number of yards and touchdowns while also displaying his ability to run the ball effectively. This aligns with what coach Sean Payton looks for in a quarterback, as he emphasizes mobility and a minimum height requirement (6-foot-2). Nix’s accuracy is also notable, as he had the highest completion rate (77.45%) among potential draft picks for the Broncos.
