Bill Belichick to the Cowboys” has become a bandwagon. Recently, Nick Wright and his associates on First Things First pointed out how the Cowboys can attract the 8x Super Bowl coach if they keep Dak Prescott around. However, Jerry Jones’ scheme of things might be problematic in the long run.

The Cowboys owner’s stubbornness and knack for exhibitionism might keep Belichick at bay. The hosts of UNDISPUTED, Keyshawn Johnson and Skip Bayless, went deep into the Belichick and the Cowboys lore. The duo pointed out some interesting things about Jones and Belichick’s dynamics.

ESPN recently did a piece on Belichick that stirred much controversy throughout the league. The article reported Belichick not returning to the league “Unless it’s [for] Jerry Jones.” However, Keyshawn Johnson thinks that the Cowboys will be the last team Belichick will coach, and he gives his reasons.

The Cowboys are the furthest thing from my mind about him being their next head coach because his personality from what I know, unless he changed in the last three months, that ain’t the guy that I want to align myself with. I don’t want to deal with a guy in control of everything and hovering over me,” Johnson said of Jerry Jones.

The host then compared Belichick’s situation with that of the Patriots and Robert Kraft. He mentioned how most of Belichick’s time with Kraft was nonintrusive“I would say 18 years, Mr. Kraft didn’t (intrude). Him and Jonathan didn’t they just was in the box eating sushi, drinking wine and clapping.” Johnson then pointed out how things changed over the years.

“Then all of a sudden, they start worrying about if they should keep this player, and if they should do that for this player. They start getting more involved from an operational standpoint. So now, that relationship started to kind of separate.” Johnson pointed out Belichick’s POV in the situation. His statements were more of a plea for Belichick not to seek the Cowboys’ attention.

Johnson pointed out how the owner’s intervention caused problems with Belichick, and things turned wrong. As far as the Cowboys are concerned, nothing goes without Jerry Jones’ seal of approval. The ESPN article had a source corroborating this story.

A source in the article pointed out the Patriots ex-HC’s stubbornness and “arrogance” by saying, “[Kraft] found Bill to be extremely difficult and obstinate and kind of stubborn and, in the end, not worthy of his trust. And also very, very, very arrogant.” But Kraft also said something about Belichick in The Dynasty: New England Patriots.

“To be honest, my head coach is a pain in the tush,” said the Pats owner. “But I was willing to put up with it — as long as we won.” But to his dismay, the head coach had a 4-13 season with the Patriots before he decided to leave.
