Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has broken his silence following reports of his arrest in Tampa. The 23-year-old is expected to be charged with multiple felonies stemming from an alleged robbery and kidnapping case, and has now issued his first public statement on the matter.

“Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence,” a statement released through the CEO of EAG Sports Management, Denise White, read. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”
“Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”

This statement, shared by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, firmly denies the allegations against the former Alabama standout and expresses confidence that the legal process will ultimately clear his name.
Per Tampa.gov, on February 1, Arnold’s property and that of a few others were stolen from an Airbnb where he “periodically stayed with co-defendants Hilton, Hughes, Williams, Hudson, Del Valle, Randazzo, and other friends.”
Two days later, the property loss was reported to the Largo Police Department. That day also saw Arnold and Hilton lure one of the victims to their apartment.
The victims claimed Williams and Hudson hit them and held them at gunpoint, and Del Valle streamed the same to the others. Later, an investigation showcased that a group chat with all the defendants existed, “where Arnold and Hilton reportedly gave instructions” to the others.
The incident continued until 1:40 a.m. on February 4, after which the victims and the suspects exited the venue in different vehicles.
Later, between February 4 and March 21, Del Valle, Hudson, Williams, Hilton, Hughes, and Randazzo were apprehended. Arnold voluntarily surrendered after a warrant was issued and was arrested on June 24.
Prosecutors said that, if convicted, Arnold could face a sentence of up to life in prison. The 23-year-old is expected to face four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery.
Florida Statute § 812.13 is as follows.
- “(2)(a) If in the course of committing the robbery the offender carried a firearm or other deadly weapon, then the robbery is a felony of the first degree, punishable by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding life imprisonment or as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.”
Florida Statute § 787.01 is as follows.
- “(2) A person who kidnaps a person is guilty of a felony of the first degree, punishable by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding life or as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.”
As Florida law classifies these charges as among its most serious felony offenses, the potential maximum sentence upon conviction is life imprisonment. The Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office stated that it would seek to hold Arnold in pre-trial detention, arguing that he “remains a danger to the community” while the case is in progress.
The Lions, on their part, quickly released a statement on the night of Arnold’s arrest.
“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
For Arnold and the Lions, the next few months will be crucial in determining his status and availability for 2026.
What comes next for Terrion Arnold?
As the case proceeds through Florida’s court system, another thing that both the player and team will be monitoring is any potential fines or suspension from the NFL.
The NFL, as part of its Personal Conduct Policy, possesses the authority to fine and/or suspend a player irrespective of the result of a criminal or civil trial. And due to the violent nature of these allegations and the fact that he was arrested, Arnold could be a strong candidate to be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. If Arnold does get placed on this list, he will be ineligible to suit up for the Lions.
Arnold, who was the first-round draft selection for the Detroit Lions in 2024, has had an up-and-down career so far in the league. After showing some promise as a rookie, Arnold suffered through poor play to start last season and ended up needing shoulder surgery due to an injury in the Thanksgiving Day game against the Packers. He just played eight games last year.
The next few weeks and months will be crucial for the former Alabama standout, as not only does he need to monitor how his legal case is progressing, but also how Roger Goodell and the NFL will react to his serious, ongoing situation.
