Even though Aaron Rodgers made headlines in September with his torn Achilles, it is still a rare injury. But getting your Achilles torn twice and that too of two different feet? That’s extremely rare. However, that’s exactly what happened this week. And this has raised more concerns regarding A-Rod’s fast-track recovery. Fans surely are extremely excited by the idea of having him back on the gridiron as soon as possible, but they don’t want it at the risk of him exposing himself to more serious injuries.
However, that’s exactly what a doctor thinks the 4x NFL MVP is doing to himself. Speaking on the podcast The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty, Dr. Jesse Morse MD, outlines what dangers he sees in A-Rod’s fast-track recovery.

“Is he playing with fire? Yeah. At this stage of his career, he can’t play with fire.” Dr Jesse said when the host asked him if Rodgers would still be able to play at a high level after his Achilles injury. Aaron Rodgers first made headlines when he was ruled out for the season after just four plays into his debut game with the New York Jets, due to a torn Achilles. Since then, he has continued to make headlines with his super-fast progress.

He defied analysts and doctors with the rate at which he was springing back into action. Initially, the NFL world thought he was out of this season. Then, people speculated he might be back before the playoffs. But, Dr Morse thinks he’s pushing himself too much.
“If he was younger, then sure.” Dr. Morse said that if was was some 20, 21-year-old player then he could afford to push himself, but he’s just a month shy of 40 now. And he’s at the fag end of his career. Should he risk everything now? One player did and now he’s paying the price for it.
Cam Akers offers a cautionary tale for Aaron Rodgers
Minnesota Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell announced on Monday that an MRI scan had confirmed that RB Cam Akers had torn his Achilles. It occurred in the third quarter of the Vikings’ 31-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. But it gets worse. The 24-year-old has torn the Achilles on his other foot. This is his second Achilles injury in 3 years.

He made news by becoming the fastest Achilles recovery story in the NFL, by being back on the field in just 5 months. But that might have just facilitated his latest injury. As Dr Morse explained, he had been using his other foot more since his right leg was weakened due to his first injury. It seems that A-Rod may be moving down that same path.

Dr Morse hinted that the best course for the starting Jets QB would be to give his leg time to properly recover. We sure do want to see one of the greatest QBs in NFL history back in action, but not if it comes at the cost of him possibly hurting his other leg as well.
