When someone undergoes surgery, especially for tendons, changes occur not only in the tendon but also in the associated muscle. The recovery process involves regaining strength in the muscle fibers and allowing sufficient time for the tendon to heal. This recovery journey is a prolonged one. Beginning with the restoration of basic functions like walking and progressing to the more demanding activities required for returning to professional sports, such as the NFL.

For individuals recovering from Achilles tendon rupture, the initial ability to walk may be restored in approximately three months. But achieving the necessary muscle strength for activities like jogging often takes around six months or even more. Additionally, the full recovery for engaging in a high level of sports, including explosive movements like pivoting and jumping, typically spans from nine to 12 months.
