Brock Purdy may not have led the Niners to a Super Bowl victory, but he’ll be making some serious cash, regardless. Most player’s contracts also come with a bunch of bonuses tied to them. They are given to the player when they cross certain milestones. And Purdy has crossed quite a few of them.

His bonuses amount to a significant portion of his contract. So, he may still be one of the most underpaid but after this season’s performance, he may get better contracts next year.

Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, stands to earn a bonus regardless of the outcome of the Super Bowl. According to NFL.com, if the 49ers had won the 2024 Super Bowl, Purdy and his teammates would have pocketed $164,000 each in bonus money. However, since they lose to the Chiefs, Purdy will still earn a substantial bonus of $89,000 simply for making it to Las Vegas. These bonuses represent over 10% of his base salary for the 2024 contract year.

According to Forbes, quarterbacks’ salaries should reflect their performance on the field. They suggest a methodical approach to determining a player’s salary, beginning with a consideration of the round in which the quarterback was drafted. Forbes proposes an annual salary range of $5-10 million based on the draft round. Additionally, they suggest compensating quarterbacks $100,000 for every quarter played, which would amount to $6.8 million for perfect attendance over a 17-game season.

Furthermore, Forbes recommends adjusting to the quarterback’s salary based on weekly performance ratings. In the event of playoff appearances, winning the Divisional Playoffs should result in double the regular game amount, while victory in the Conference Championship warrants a $5 million bonus, escalating to $10 million for a Super Bowl win.

Although Brock Purdy has not publicly addressed his salary, his fans advocate for fair compensation that aligns with his contributions to the team. The question remains: will the San Francisco 49ers heed the calls to appropriately reward Purdy for his performance?
