Will Tua Tagovailoa ever accept blame for the Miami Dolphins‘ humiliating season? Doesn’t look like that. The Phins were hoping for a continued winning run in the Week 9 game against the Ravens at Hard Rock Stadium until they blew the game away 6-28. And while the Dolphins’ signal caller did own his mistakes, he also called out his teammates during the post-game presser. Notably, receivers Tahj Washington (1st quarter) and Malik Washington (4th quarter) fumbled the ball.

“They know they got to hold onto the ball just like any of the guys that are ball carriers, even myself. I know I got to protect the ball. They know the same thing. So, it’s not about reminding them that, like, hey, you can’t do that. Just continuing to encourage them, keep them encouraged, keep their mindset going in the game,” Tagovailoa said.

While both WRs did make a mistake, it’s not like the Phins were playing a great game. The Ravens and Dolphins ended up with almost the same total yards, but Baltimore played much better overall by mixing things up nicely. They threw for 188 yards and ran for 150, which kept Miami’s defense guessing. The Dolphins passed for 245 yards, but their run game was weak with just 87 yards. Because of that, Baltimore held the ball longer, about 31 minutes compared to Miami’s 28 minutes, which helped them control the game.

Baltimore also took care of the ball. They had no turnovers, while the Dolphins made three big mistakes: two fumbles and one interception. That’s what really changed the game. Tua Tagovailoa himself didn’t throw one TD pass.

On third downs, the Ravens were better, too. They made 5 of 13 third-down tries and even got 1 of 1 on fourth down. The Dolphins only made 2 of 12, which killed their drives and stopped them from finding rhythm. The red zone made the biggest difference. Every time the Ravens got close to the goal line, they scored 3 times out of 3. Miami went 0 for 3 and didn’t score a single touchdown in those chances.

Understandably, the Phins are struggling. But things took another turn when Tua shifted the blame for his mistakes, too. He blamed the Ravens fans for the unbearable noise in his home stadium.

“The Ravens fans, it maybe got a little muffled with my cadence and the crowd noise. So, we kind of talked about that on the sidelines after and got that corrected,” Tua Tagovailoa said.

Well, the Hard Rock Stadium has around 3,000 speakers for powerful sound. But 71,344 fans in the stands made the game a lot tougher for the Phins. Yet, the signal caller needs to step up. He had a tough time finding rhythm. He completed 25 of 40 passes (62.5% completion rate) for 261 yards but didn’t score and had one interception. His short throws couldn’t open up Baltimore’s defense, and his offense looked flat for most of the game.
