Tyreek Hill’s start to the 2025 season has been as scrutinised as it has been eventful. There were trade talks, speculations that he wanted out. Then came the season, and the speculations haven’t died down. Will they, won’t they? The question is still the talk of Miami. After a four-catch, 40-yard opener in Indianapolis, the Miami wideout rebounded with six grabs for 109 yards and a 47-yard burst against New England. Tyreek Hill for the Dolphins had five catches, 49 yards, and a touchdown in their 31-21 loss to the Bills.

Cameron Wolfe said, “Status quo with Tyreek, there were a lot of reports the last couple of weeks about trading for Tyreek, does it make sense there? From what I understand, they’ve had no conversations about Tyreek, and no one has really been called at this stage. You’ve got to think, Tyreek had some off-field drama this year and the past year. Although he’s got a lot of talent on the field, there’s a lot of risk and money for another team to get involved.” 

Hill has 15 catches for 198 yards, highlighting the Dolphins’ slow start and his big-play potential. That resurgence comes as speculation swirls about his future. Despite repeated chatter on social media, league insiders report that Miami has not fielded or initiated any trade discussions. Hill hasn’t made a formal request, and the team still sees him as a key part of the offence.

Several teams are watching Tyreek Hill, who’s coming off his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019. There have been two teams specifically that have been eager to make this trade. The Chiefs, with an incomplete offence, and the Steelers, previously eyeing a receiver before signing Jack Markowski, have shown interest.

Hill signed a three-year, $90 million extension with Miami in August 2024. Despite the lucrative deal, the receiver would still carry a significant dead cap hit of over $15.5 million if released in 2026, creating financial complications for any potential roster move.

Analysts say the team still aims to contend and has eased internal issues.” They just haven’t fixed the on-field product to be able to translate it to wins. We’ll certainly keep an eye on Tyreek as the year goes on. Especially if Miami continues to lose, but right now there’s nothing in the rumour at all about any trade.”

Hill is under NFL review for domestic violence, echoing past issues at Oklahoma State. He denies the recent accusations, but the investigation creates a significant layer of risk for any team considering acquiring him. Combined with his substantial contract commitments, that risk explains why no market has yet developed for a trade.

Miami’s record could shift the trade talks, but for now, the situation remains stable. Hill’s play and the team’s results will decide if the Dolphins stay steady or pursue a blockbuster move. But as of now, one thing is clear: a trade is not what Mike McDaniel and the team want now.

Dolphins present unified front amid trade chatter

Tyreek Hill dismisses Miami trade rumours, seeing them as an opportunity, not a distraction. He stays unfazed by trade talk, viewing it as part of being an elite player. NFL insider Tom Pelissero has echoed that assessment, “I don’t foresee Tyreek Hill being traded in the near-term by the Dolphins barring some type of blowup, which we’ve seen happen surrounding Tyreek in the past with postgame comments. I don’t get the sense we’re there because the moment they would trade Tyreek Hill, that’s Miami waving the white flag,” he said on the Rich Eisen Show.  

He believes moving Hill would mean Miami is conceding its season, which the organisation refuses to do. Behind the scenes, Hill’s representation has worked to reinforce that message.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has said, “At the end of the day, he’s committed to this Dolphins football team,” Rosenhaus said. “He had an excellent meeting with Chris Green and Mike McDaniel. I believe that Tyreek is a great asset to the Dolphins.”

Hill, when asked about the trading rumours, said, “I don’t really pay attention to any of that. I feel like to me, noise is good, adversity is opportunity. I look at it like that.”

Rosenhaus calls Hill a cornerstone, not a problem, for the franchise. The coordinated tone from Hill, the team, and his agent underscores a shared desire to dampen speculation. Miami aims to keep its top receiver as it rebounds and pushes for the playoffs.
