When Odell Beckham Jr. decided to join the Dolphins, it wasn’t a hush-hush that his best years were behind him. The WR, who hadn’t managed to climb up to no.1 or anywhere near for a while, admitted he was at peace getting to play the backup. Maximizing the opportunity was all that had mattered.

But contrary to the mindset he came in with, the unproductive season was a little too difficult to bear. “A bit of resentment to like have to wake up and then go into that building,” Beckham revealed during his appearance on The Pivot podcast. “Even though it’s a blessing and a privilege and all those things to be in the league, it just had become like poison to me.

There’s other things that are more important. I’m spending all this time here for nothing. I’m not even playing. I never tell anybody business, but like all the things that I was told and sold on, for whatever reason, it just didn’t happen. And that’s okay. Like it is what it is.”

After wearing three different jerseys in three years, Beckham was ready to be a role player alongside Tyreek Hill and wideout Jaylen Waddle. In the introductory press conference, he’d express ‘stay within the present, and you will find a way to succeed’. But the optimism was washed down the drain even before it took root.

His season started tough, having to rehab his way to the lineup following a knee surgery. What followed was no starts in the nine games he played. The WR also ended up recording nine catches for 55 yards, far from someone who had posted 1,000-yard seasons four of his first five years in the league.

Clearly, Beckham Jr. wasn’t enjoying his time in Miami. It was also evident when the Dolphins and the 3x Pro Bowler mutually agreed to part ways in December last year. He has been a free agent ever since. But for Beckham, it turned out to be a necessary break.

“With football being shaky and this being shaky, I’m not really focusing on either one,” he further added, referring to his attention being divided between family and game. Beckham took a step back, spent time with his son, and is back in the gym, preparing for a comeback, whenever that might be.

But if he was given an option to choose, the WR eyes four teams: New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers.

Odell Beckham Jr. shared his interest in joining one team, the most

OBJ’s interest in the Steelers is nothing surprising after tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey joined head coach Tomlin. While Beckham eyes to join the squad with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers can also use some help in their wide receivers’ room. Beckham even hinted at teaming up with the player.

“I love him, and we’ve had conversations,” he said. “I won’t say that it’s not a possibility, and I won’t say that I haven’t had any communication.” Aaron Rodgers and Odell Beckham Jr. have shared mutual respect for years. Whenever Beckham became a free agent, Rodgers’ team always seemed to pop up as a possible landing spot. Even this past June, when Beckham was available again, many pushed for Pittsburgh to make a move for the former Offensive Rookie of the Year.

“I f—ing love [Mike] Tomlin,” Beckham said. “I was actually supposed to be drafted to the Steelers. That was the meeting that I had that I was like, ‘I think I’m going to the Steelers.’ And the Giants ended up taking me at No. 12.” When Beckham was drafted in 2014, the Steelers were on the board at No. 15. If given an opportunity, he is all in for joining Tomlin.

Apart from this, he also played for the Cleveland Browns for 2 years (2019–2021). After his stint with the Rams and Super Bowl win, he sat out 2022 because of his ACL injury, and he played for the Baltimore Ravens (2023) before his stint in Miami. So far, he has recorded 575 receptions, 7,987 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns.

However, there’s a huge time gap this season. It remains a mystery whether the Steelers would acquire him, and even if they did, would they have a spot available for the WR?
