Imagine your team is playing so badly that you simply decide you’ve seen enough and walk away. As Amazon broadcaster Tony Gonzalez put it, that’s exactly what Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross did. Long before the final whistle blew in their week 9, 28-6 loss against the Baltimore Ravens, Ross was gone. But was that true? Dolphins reporter Omar Kelly believes otherwise and shares proof that this wasn’t the case.

“The Amazon broadcast crew claims owner Steve Ross left the game before it was over.” Kelly wrote on X. “That isn’t accurate according to @7SportsXtra, which has film of him running off the field after the game.”
In Amazon’s post-game coverage, broadcasters discussed the tough situation Miami Dolphins find themselves in after falling 2-7 in Week 9. The fans booed throughout the game, they left early, and even head coach Mike McDaniel ran off the field post-game. As Tony Gonzalez had put it:

“Stephen Ross leaving before the game’s even over. Obviously, he’s disgusted. Doesn’t want to see his team losing like this. The fans are walking out of here. So what message can you give to the fan base?”

But as Kelly corrected Gonzalez, Ross was present throughout the game to watch the disappointing defeat. While that’s one thing cleared up, the frustrations from the Dolphins’ faithful has been palpable.
Week after week of miscues and defeats have made the fans call out Stephen Ross repeatedly to fire coach McDaniel and make changes to the franchise. But Ross is standing firm behind McDaniel. And the head coach, for one, admits that he understands the frustrations.
Mike McDaniel on fans’ disappointment
A majority of the boos on Thursday night were directed at Coach McDaniel. Fans even showed up wearing paper-bags on their heads to express disappointment. When the Ravens had already taken the decisive 28-6 lead in the third quarter, many took it as the cue to leave. They’d seen enough. McDaniel was asked about this post-game, and he didn’t shy away from admitting the team’s struggles.

“Personally, you want to dictate terms. You want to fix stuff, and yeah, it sucks. … Our expectation is that we have to do the work and do the right things for fans to enjoy the experience, and unfortunately, we didn’t do that tonight, so we got to get back to work to give them something to cheer about.”
There were several moments in the game when the head coach himself reflected the sentiment of the crowd. A saga of incompletions, fumbles, and turnovers had McDaniel taking off his headset and airing his frustrations on the sideline. At one point, he even looked up at the sky dejectedly.
The Dolphins now face the Buffalo Bills in Week 10. But can they bring back their fire against Josh Allen & Co.? McDaniel believes the team is already gearing up for action, and the next battle can’t come soon enough.
“I know the locker room would like to go play another Thursday night game in four days to get this bad taste out of their mouth.”
But it will be a longer time before the Dolphins can try to write their redemption arc. The question is, when October 9 rolls around, will Miami be able to mount a comeback?
