Fans inside the stadium grumbled over Tua Tagovailoa’s throws against the New England Patriots, and afterward the Miami Dolphins quarterback made surprising admissions about his struggles.

In doing so, he even spilled the beans on what he told his weapons, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

“Having some talks with Reek and whatnot, that if [I throw it deep], just don’t think that I’m going to throw it 80 yards,” Tua told reporters. “As you’re running, do your best to track it, because you can potentially stop.”

The throw went for 47 yards. It was the Dolphins QB’s first completion of 30-plus yards to Hill since Week 1 of 2024.

It’s no secret that Tagovailoa doesn’t have the NFL’s strongest arm. So, it makes sense he’d want honest conversations with his receivers about ball placement. And while the pass wasn’t perfect, Hill cashed in, hauling it for a massive first down on third-and-13. It was also his longest catch since Sept. 8, 2024, when he took an 80-yarder to the house.

Meanwhile, Tua had a strong outing against the Patriots, going 26 of 32 for 315 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Still, the patchwork needs to happen… Or else the ‘moments’ will keep costing the Phins.

With 1:09 left and Miami trailing by six, Tagovailoa strung together three completions to reach the Patriots’ 26.

But back-to-back penalties — A false start and a delay of game — pushed the Dolphins back. On fourth down, New England slammed the door with a sack at the 48-second mark.

What’s your perspective on:

With Tyreek Hill's frustration boiling over, is it time for the Dolphins to consider a trade?

“That was really frustrating,” Tagovailoa said. “It was frustrating with the communication with the guys inside the huddle and then what the personnel is, then the play for those guys. Do we have too many guys in? Why do we have another guy running in? Just the whole operation of that was not up to standard, was not up to par. And I got to do a better job with our guys in that sense.”

For Hill, that 47-yarder was the kind of play he had to finish if fans were going to feel better about him and this Dolphins offense, which already looked shaky in Week 1. Trade rumors have swirled around the star receiver, though reports suggest there hasn’t been real interest from other teams just yet.

Tyreek Hill might walk out of the door still!

For the last two weeks, speculation has only grown louder. And in the worst way possible.

The headlines already call him ‘Former Chiefs star!’

Tyreek Hill could be done in Miami. Whether it’s his sideline body language or the quiet Week 1 showing, the frustration boiled over in Week 2’s gut-punch loss to the Patriots. On Miami’s last gasp, Hill sat wide open flashing his number, only for Tua Tagovailoa to sail the ball over his head. Hill leapt in frustration before signaling to be taken out. An ugly snapshot of just how messy things have become.

For Kansas City, watching from afar, it feels like déjà vu. Hill’s exit was always about more than money, and Miami is seeing why. Dating back to last season’s finale, when the receiver appeared to quit on his team, the warning signs were there. Now, two games into 2025, Hill’s stance looks unchanged — if not stronger — as rumors of him seeking a new landing spot heat up.

The Dolphins’ issues go far deeper than Hill.

Coaching has been a mess, the defense has been shredded, and both the Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones and Patriots QB Drake Maye had career days against Miami’s secondary. Hill’s irritation is understandable in that context. But blowing up at his quarterback and sulking on the sideline is only pouring gasoline on a fire that’s already consuming the franchise.

That Week 2 meltdown might be the breaking point. With Miami sitting at 0-2, confidence gone, Buffalo Bills next, and locker room tension building, it’s hard to picture Hill sticking around for the long haul.
