After last week’s 31-6 blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns, the Miami Dolphins now sit at 1-6. Their three-game losing streak has only made the situation worse. As a result, many are wondering if head coach Mike McDaniel’s time is up in Miami. And guess what? There’s a lot of chatter around that. Amid all this, Tyreek Hill decided to open up.

While talking to The Set with Terron Armstead, Hill said the Dolphins can turn the season around. “Yes, we can. I’m telling you, our coaches have been doing a great job of setting the standard… They got some great leaders. They can turn it around.” Tyreek Hill is one of the leaders on the team, so his take might give some optimism.
Still, the truth is the Dolphins’ season has been anything but smooth. Inconsistency has defined them from the start. Injuries have piled up, including one to Tyreek Hill himself. On top of that, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s struggles have made things worse.

Against Cleveland, Tua threw three interceptions before being benched. To make matters worse, Miami looked undisciplined, drawing seven first-half penalties that killed any rhythm they tried to build. It was rough to watch.
Still, McDaniel showed his belief in Tua after the loss. In his post-game presser, the coach stood firm, saying, “He is going to take the snaps this week. And he is going to be a starter this week. And my expectation is that we don’t throw 10 picks.” But here’s the thing, the pressure is real.

After last season’s disappointing finish, many fans wondered if McDaniel’s stint was over. When the team kept him for 2025, it came with an understanding: deliver or face the heat. Now, the situation is getting out of hand. Still, McDaniel might have just one last shot to change the narrative.

The Dolphins’ owners still believes in Mike McDaniel
While the noise around Mike McDaniel’s future grows louder, it seems the Dolphins’ owner isn’t ready to pull the plug just yet. Veteran reporter Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald recently revealed that Stephen Ross still believes in giving his coach and general manager more time.
“When I’ve asked a Ross associate why no changes, he cited the owner wanting to give McDaniel/Grier a fair amount of time to turn this around. Yesterday and previous weeks did not qualify, in his view, as reasons to change from that approach. Who knows what will?”

Still, belief alone can’t hide what’s happening on the field. The Dolphins have looked flat and unrecognizable.

Their offense, once electric and unpredictable, now feels disconnected and dull. The energy that once made McDaniel’s system one of the most feared in the league has completely vanished. Yet despite the chaos, McDaniel won’t entertain talks about his job status. He’s keeping his focus elsewhere.
“I find it very offensive to all parties involved if I’m thinking about having a job. I need to be doing my job,” he said. “For as long as I coach for the Miami Dolphins, they’ll get everything from me.” That’s the kind of response you’d expect from a coach still fighting, even when the walls are closing in.
But right now, that might not be enough. Fans across Fins Nation are losing patience fast. If this slide doesn’t stop soon, the franchise may be forced to hit reset, and it’ll likely start with McDaniel.
