On October 19, shortly before Taylor Swift took the stage at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami for her Eras Tour, a Donald Trump supporter orchestrated an aerial endorsement. As an airplane flew over the Miami Gardens venue, the banner in tow read, “TRUMP 2024 – READY FOR IT, CAT LADY? MAGA!” referencing the pop star’s 2017 song, …Ready For It? But where did “cat lady” come from?

Well, on the night of the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Trump, the 34-year-old singer made an official endorsement. “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most… I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.

“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” she wrote, signing the post as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady.” In her endorsement, Swift also addressed one of Trump’s posts on Truth Social relating to her. What was it? An AI-generated image of the singer that read, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump,” which was posted on X by a pro-Trump account in August. When the President-elect caught wind of it, he posted a screenshot on Truth Social, writing, “I accept!”

Referring to this, Swift wrote in her Instagram endorsement, “I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site… The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth,” following which, she showed her support for Harris and Walz. All this is to say that as much as the pop icon has used her platform to promote herself, her brand, and her beliefs, so has Donald Trump. And that has now led to the incoming President surpassing Swift in the most-followed list on X.

Until now, Taylor Swift was 8th on the list (with 94,731,484 followers), behind the likes of X owner Elon Musk, former President Barack Obama, and soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo. But Trump now has 94,754,047 followers on X. Here’s the list: –

Taylor Swift has been a digital queen on X for ages. She’s got that cultural dominance, boosted by her world tours and chart-topping albums. On the flip side, Trump has been in the spotlight, especially since his 2016 presidential campaign. He won the 2016 election, becoming the 45th President of the United States. A businessman by trade, he became the first U.S. president with no military or government background. Speaking of which…

When he lost the 2020 elections to incumbent President Joe Biden, his supporters stormed the US Capitol in January 2021 during the formal counting of electoral votes. At the time, Twitter management believed Trump’s tweets played a role in inciting the attack and violence, and they permanently suspended his account. But when Elon Musk took over the social media platform, one of the first things he did was reverse all the suspensions, including Donald Trump’s.

And now, the President-elect has surpassed Taylor Swift in the most-followed list, getting closer to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 103.6 million follower mark. That said, Taylor Swift has never been shy about her dislike for Trump. With their differing ideologies, it’s no surprise they’ve had a pretty tense relationship over the years. The whole feud started back in 2018 when Swift publicly backed Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn.

Since the 2018 feud, Donald Trump hasn’t exactly held back. He has made sure to keep his opinions known, especially when it comes to Swift’s political involvement.

Donald Trump ‘dislikes’ Taylor Swift’s music

For quite some time now, Trump has been sharing his two cents on Swift, whether it’s through comments or digs here and there. After the 2018 feud, when Taylor Swift called Republican Marsha Blackburn “Trump in a wig,” Trump fired back, saying, “Let’s just say I like Taylor’s music about 25% less now, okay?” He made this remark while addressing reporters at the White House.

Fast forward to 2023, when Swift began dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce; of course, Trump had something to say about it. And let’s just say it wasn’t exactly positive. While talking to the media and asked his opinion, Trump said, “I hope they enjoy their life, maybe together, maybe not — most likely not.” Swift’s dating life has always been front and center in the media, and naturally, everyone’s got something to say.

Lately, an AI-generated video featuring Trump and Taylor Swift has been going viral. In the video, Trump is singing his rendition of Swift’s hit song, Love Story, saying, “Taylor, it’s done. Just thought I’d check-in. I know that you’re not used to being on the losing side. You should’ve voted more like Patrick’s wife. Shut up, Brittany.” Notably, Patrick Mahomes‘ wife and mom, Randi, endorsed Trump during the elections.

The AI-generated Trump continued, “Make no mistake, Travis is secretly happy… his brother too. Albeit a little snappy, smashed his phone,” suggesting that the Kelce brothers are his supporters, as well. All said and done, though, it seems the pop star and the President-elect are going to continue their supposed feud.
