Drafted by the Saints, flying with the Eagles. That’s CJ Gardner-Johnson‘s story for you. And it stands even more true after Philly’s 15-12 week 3 win over New Orleans. But there’s something about how CJ rallied his teammates after the victory against his former employers is creating all sorts of noise on social media.

NFL Network’s on-air host Bridget Condon reported: CJ Gardner Johnson screaming in the locker room “They ain’t no contenders, they’re pretenders. They have Derek Carr remember that.” Ouch! That seemed a little personal, more than a banter.

On the flip side, Carr did have his moments, including a nice touchdown throw to Chris Olave. And it wasn’t, particularly, a good look for CJ as Olave left him in the dust on that play. Then there was Alvin Kamara, who delivered a vicious stiff arm to him.

This makes you wonder, was the post-game reaction in reply to what he was put through? Well, the answer to that only lies with Gardner-Johnson. But one thing’s for a fact that he’d want to not take any ‘inspirations’ from such an outing.

It was more of the Eagles showing up than CJ’s one-man show. He notched 5 solo tackles, 3 assists, and threw a shade on Derek Carr. That, right there, is his evening summed up.

However, he didn’t stop there. In the post-game presser, CJ had more to say about his past with New Orleans. “They got rid of me, I ain’t get rid of them. It’s still in me, it’s still tatted on me,” he declared, lifting his jersey to show off his Saints tattoo. Well, well, well, don’t let it confuse you for loyalty because there was none of it on the night!

CJ Gardner-Johnson played the agitator against the Saints

Sure, there was some love for CJ Gardner-Johnson in New Orleans, but now he’s soaring with the Eagles. And if you thought his remarks about Derek Carr and the Saints were spicy, wait until you see his post-game social media rants! Right after Philly’s clinched that 15-12 win, he couldn’t resist taking a shot at those doubting them.

CJ took to X, firing off a tweet that had fans reposting and haters quipping in the comments. He called out the Saints’ defensive backs, saying, “We keep receipts!!! Y’all favorite DBs couldn’t chase a TE down 😂😂😂.” Talk about confidence!

But jokes aside—he might be overlooking that the Saints’ defense overloaded one side on that broken play. It wasn’t just a lack of speed; their defenders collided, creating a golden opportunity for Dallas Goedert. They might have caught him eventually, but that moment of confusion gave him the space he needed for the game-winning TD.

Gardner-Johnson really embodies that agitator role, doesn’t he? Even on a day where his stats weren’t exactly popping—let’s just say he could’ve been more productive—he still found time to talk smack after the game. Guess trash talk is just part of his game but surely he should keep it in check. Mind games work better when you are lighting up the gridiron yourself. What do you think?
