Running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts had a meeting with wide receiver A.J. Brown after the Philadelphia Eagles were handed their first defeat (21-17 ) of this season by the Denver Broncos. However, the RB refused to call it a meeting, while Brown went further to deny that any such meeting had taken place at all.

“A.J. Brown asked about the meeting with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley this week repeatedly says he didn’t recall any meeting,” Mike Garafolo wrote on X. He further wrote, “When told Hurts and Barkley confirmed it, he says you’d have to talk to them. As for the #Eagles’ offense: “We’re still trying to find our identity.”

This might have come off as strange. But it wasn’t anything controversial, as Barkley told the reporters. He said the meeting was positive and not the kind of tense and emotional one. Well, not just Brown and Hurts, Barkley shared that he also spoke to wide receiver DeVonta Smith, offensive tackle AJ. Lane Johnson and tackle Jordan Mailata.

“That wasn’t a players’ meeting,” the RB revealed. “When you hear ‘players’ meeting,’ it’s like all hell is breaking loose. It wasn’t that at all. Also, we’re teammates, we’re all friends, and we’re just having a conversation.”

He further explained that the discussion was more about helping the team improve, and it was a good, productive conversation, which included him and the other two. But he also agreed that the conversation was meant to be private.

That explains why Brown didn’t seem interested in addressing it. “I don’t know what you guys are talking about,” he said. But what caught the attention was the rumor of tension between the three players and the issues with the offense.

Brown has issues with the lack of targets. He recorded five receptions for 43 yards against the Broncos and six receptions for 80 yards against the Giants. Overall, he has just one touchdown across his last six games. The Eagles’ offense has struggled this season, putting up only 261.6 yards per game, which is the third-worst in the league.

Now, this trio is the soul of the Eagles, which led the team to the Super Bowl last year, and the trio must have the same energy as last season if they eye another win this season. Head coach Nick Sirriani also shared his take on the rumors.

Nick Sirianni dismissed the locker room drama rumors

For coach Sirianni, it was important to dismiss all the rumors as he defended his players.

“You know, obviously communication with all of us is so important—to be able to talk,” Sirianni said. “Whether that’s coaches to players, players to coaches, or players to players. I would say they do a good job talking and figuring things out, whether that’s in the building or in a game.”

This also comes after the rumors of the meeting. And coach Sirianni is not new to this. Last year, there were rumors that Hurts had an opinion clash with Sirianni. The Eagles had the same response as now and went on to win the Super Bowl.

Even now, Hurts admitted the difference of opinion, though he didn’t take any names. But appeared confident in the team.

“It’s like having all the same ingredients, but having a different chef in the kitchen,” he said, as per Zach Berman. “I think that’s what it’s kind of been for us over the years. You can have the same ingredients, and somebody can make the same dish, and it tastes different.”

As for now, the team’s focus is clearly on how to overcome this phase.
