The Eagles are in for a rough ride. When they lost week 5 game, it was more like an upset victory. But against the Giants, they were outplayed in every department. Jalen Hurts was sacked thrice and intercepted once.

So, when the reporters asked him about the reason, he took accountability. “I got to be better. I take ownership for it. A lot of autonomy, a lot of opportunity there with the ball in my hands, and in those situations I have to be wiser and more detailed with it,” he told reporters. This was the head coach Nick Sirianni‘s message for everyone to look in the mirror and gather the inner strength.
The Eagles QB added, “Being honest with ourselves and looking in the mirror about what we can improve. So now, both QB and HC need to work on their team.

For Jalen Hurts, the struggles in his protection continued. He is 2nd in the sacks (18 sacks for 97 yards) in the league (after rookie Cam Ward). Just for comparison, the Eagles have only sacked their rivals 9 times for 46 yards. Even against the Giants, Hurts recorded 24 of 33 passes (72.7% completion rate) for 283 passing yards in 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also rushed the ball 7 times for 13 yards, scoring 1 TD.

The Giants’ rookie Jaxson Dart gave a mind-blowing performance. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 195 yards and 1 TD. Even though the Birds sacked him twice, they only lost 1 yard. With this, the Eagles also lost their 2nd back-to-back game of the season.
Not only the quarterback, but they lagged in other areas as well.
Jalen Hurts’ teammate also disappointed with second loss
It wasn’t just about the quarterback. The Giants outperformed them in the rushing department as well. While the Birds logged only 20 rushes for 73 yards and 1 touchdown, the Giants rushed the ball 39 times for 172 yards and 4 TDs.
Last year’s hero, Saquon Barkley, went this week also without crossing 100 yards in a game. After the loss, he was also disappointed, but he gave a mantra to his locker room. “We gotta get back to that mindset…not giving a f— what (the defense) is trying to do,” he said.
This year, Barkley has failed to impress. He started the season on a high note with 22 carries for 88 yards and 1 touchdown. But since then, his performance has dipped. In 6 games this year, he has 95 rushes for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns. But even then, the Eagles need to come up with a better plan.
Even the QB Jalen Hurts was disappointed with the defeat. When asked about their problems, he gave a clear path. “We just got to execute. It’s the same thing, same word. Takes great detail, making sure we’re in the right play. Leveraging ourselves, and so it comes down to execution.”

However, the Giants were on a roll. Their rookie RB Cam Skattebo broke the franchise records, becoming only the 2nd rookie running back to score 3 TDs in a single game. He finished the game with 19 rushes for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. Even after the game, the Arizona State alumnus was in a wild form, enjoying himself with former NFL QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. They even took time together to do some chest thumping.
For the Birds, this season is extremely important. They are defending the Super Bowl LIX in 2025. And everything was good in September. But October has been a messenger of bad news. They have already lost both games. Can they change their fortune next week? Stay tuned as we will keep bringing more news for you.
