On November 1, Philly acquired the cornerback from the Ravens in a mutually beneficial deal. Besides Jaire, the Eagles will receive a 2027 seventh-round pick for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
During the post-deadline press conference, Eagles GM Howie Roseman revealed that picking Jaire was a well-thought-out decision. He reached out to the Ravens’ front office and did his due diligence before believing the deal was worth the risk. For the Eagles, it’s an opportunity to add a two-time Pro Bowl selection to their secondary.
As for Jaire, it’s a homecoming moment since he was born in Philadelphia before his family moved to North Carolina when he was a toddler. The CB attended Rocky River High School in the new state, but still has family in Philly. Clearly, the hometown connection runs deep for Alexander, but this move also offers another perk.
This chance serves as a fresh start for him after a rocky journey in Baltimore. In June, Jaire Alexander signed a one-year deal with the franchise for $4 million. Unfortunately, the first-round pick’s career never took off with the team because of a knee injury during training camp and inconsistent play afterward. The 28-year-old player appeared in just two of the Ravens’ eight games this season, without recording a single interception or pass breakup.
At the moment, all Jaire needs is a change of scenery and some faith from his new team. The Eagles definitely believe he can deliver since he brings solid experience with him. In his NFL career, the ex-Green Bay cornerback has over 290 total tackles and 12 interceptions. While the team awaits Jaire Alexander’s injury return, a recent “poison pill” deal has caught attention about Micah Parsons’ contract.
Jaire Alexander arrives, but Parsons is not likely until 2027
Green Bay Packers star rusher Micah Parsons will face off against the Eagles on Monday. But he likely won’t suit up against them again for some time. Over the summer, the Dallas Cowboys ensured that their ex-defensive star wouldn’t join their NFC East rival by using a special clause.
According to multiple reports, the blockbuster August trade that sent Parsons from Dallas to Green Bay included a hidden “poison pill” condition. What does the deal say? If the Packers ever ship the Penn State graduate to any NFC East team, they would owe the Cowboys their 2028 first-round draft pick. It’s a tricky arrangement that prevents any moves between Green Bay and Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.
Some NFL insiders think the Cowboys deliberately slipped in the clause to make sure Parsons couldn’t join his hometown team. Additionally, the bill will run through the 2026 season, implying that Green Bay can’t trade Parsons until at least 2027. Assuming this is true, there is a good chance that the Eagles’ fans will just have to watch Parsons play in a different jersey for the time being.
