Trash-talking is the norm in this sport. No doubt about that, but to do it against a team’s fans? Is it brave or childish? You can take your time to answer this, but the Rams rookie linebacker, Jared Verse has done exactly that!

Philadelphia, baby. You’re gonna love it. Best sports fans in the world. Actually the worst, but that’s what makes ’em the best.” Said Jalen Hurts about Eagles fans. Now, you’ve to think whether Jared had heard only half of this. While talking to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, the rookie said “I hate Eagles fans” because “they’re so annoying.” Verse made these comments after Eagles fans yelled at him during the Rams’ Week 12 matchup. He explained, “I didn’t even do nothing to ’em. It was my first time playing.” That’s his side, though. But you know the Eagles, right? They’ve got a fitting response for him.

Eagles fans onslaught on Jared Verse

Eagles fans were all over Verse when he entered Lincoln Financial Field, constantly booing him. Whenever his statement was shown on the screen, fans didn’t forget to boo him. During the game, the Eagles drove into field-goal range, and Verse made a defensive play by sacking Jalen Hurts on a third down, forcing the Eagles to punt. Even after this, the booing didn’t stop. This is outright bloodlust! We knew this was coming after an Eagles player responded. We knew this was coming after an Eagle player responded.

“Probably not the smartest thing to say when you’re coming to Philadelphia,” said Eagles linebacker Saquon Barkley. He then sent a clear warning to his counterpart: “I’m pretty sure Philly fans have seen that comment, and it was only going to be loud and rocking, and this is only going to add to it.” That’s quite a lot of red flags for a single game! But how did we get here?

Rams linebacker on Eagles’ fans

It was the Rams rookie who didn’t hold back for a bit. Adding insult to injury, he even made fun of their jersey. “When I see that green and white I hate it,” said the linebacker. Considering you’re going in the Eagles’ den, you should’ve some plans. But now he’s got his coach’s backing. Addressing his comments, Rams head coach Sean McVay said “He told his truth. I’m riding with the Rams.” Oh no, it’s getting worse now, with the coach on the linebacker’s side, the Eagle fans have all the right to go all out on the visitors.

The fans went berserk when Barkley owned Jared Verse in the first quarter. After scoring a 62-yard touchdown run, Barkley slowed down to ensure the rookie saw him. This gave the Eagles a 13-7 lead in the first quarter. At least, we’ve got some spice in the first month of the year. Given this fiasco, it’s clear that players are just as involved as the fans, which makes sense given the context of this game.

A win for the Eagles would send them to the NFC Championship Game, keeping their Super Bowl hopes alive. For the Rams, a victory would mean a return to the NFC Championship Game, giving them another shot at the Super Bowl. Looking at the head-to-head stats, the record stands at 24-20-1 in favor of the Eagles. However, the recent five meetings have been 4-1 in favor of the Eagles. Fans can now wait to find out whether Verse will silence the home den or not.
