And it seems the New York Jets are set to do some wonders next season. The Eagles signed Bryce Huff, a former edge rusher from the Jets, to a three-year contract worth up to $51.1 million, after a lot of speculations. The 25-year-old rusher showcased his skills as a strong pass rusher despite not starting any games last season with the Jets.

He managed to achieve 10 sacks while playing 42% of the defensive snaps. Even though he wasn’t drafted in the NFL, Huff joined the Jets in 2020 and accumulated a total of 17.5 sacks during his four seasons with them. This signing provided the Eagles with a valuable pass rusher in his prime. So, does that mean the Jets are at a loss?

Well, the answer undoubtedly is no with their latest addition. After the trading of Huff, the Eagles continued to negotiate exchanges involving other players like Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat with the Jets. And as per a recent update by the NFL on their official Instagram account, “Eagles are trading Haason Reddick to the Jets for a future conditional 3rd-round pick.” He is now going to replace Huff in the team. The 29-year-old Reddick had been looking to leave the team because reportedly he wasn’t happy with his contract (three-year, $45 million contract).

He’s known for his impressive record of 50.5 sacks over the past four seasons, making him one of the top players in the league, behind former Defensive Player of the Year winners T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett as well as Trey Hendrickson. The Jets are now likely to pay him $14.5 million for the last year of his contract. Although they haven’t agreed on a contract extension yet, there’s optimism that they will soon.

What can the Jets expect from Reddick now?

Initially what was thought to be a smart move by the Eagles soon turned in favor of the Jets with the addition of Haason Reddick to their side. Replacing a star linebacker with someone who leads in sacks is a great move by the New York team.

Moreover, with Aaron Rodgers back after his season-ending injury, this will prove to be an ideal time for them to go out there in the next season to win the division and Super Bowl this time. Reddick’s durability is also seen as a valuable asset, as he has a good record of staying healthy and has played consistently well in recent seasons.
