Buccaneers’ last chance to grab the lead ended in the QB’s costly interception. With 1:59 left on the clock, on second and 5, Mayfield’s pass in the middle was picked off by Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes. This led to the Lions maintaining a thorough lead over the Bucs. However, despite this move, many veteran figures continued to support Mayfield.

One such instance is WWE veteran Ric Flair. The legend expressed his wish to hang out with Mayfield. Furthermore, he stated that this game has ignited his respect for him, as he played with all his heart. He said, “You‘re a bada**! I live in Tampa. I don’t have your number. I want to hang out with you.” However, when considering Mayfield’s move, has Lions safety C.J. Garner’s assertion about Mayfield been validated?

Was C.J. Gardner right?

Before the game, Pro-Safety Gardner had predicted something unusual. He said the Buccs would be a great team if they had a good quarterback, and commented about the Offensive Player of the Week Award that Mayfield had won in December. Per him, others deserved it more than the QB. Interestingly, he even took some of their names, including Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Furthermore, the safety also named Russell Gage, who hasn’t even played this season.

However, considering the quarterback’s performance throughout the season, it doesn’t seem right to judge him based on just one game. Mayfield took the team to the divisional round, which is a great achievement in the competitive environment. Even journalist Lance Medow thinks the same way, remarking about it being an award concerning the regular season, where Mayfield had been exceptional. He said, “It’s a regular season award, so post-season performance doesn’t mean anything.” He further considered Mayfield the Comeback Player of the Year, and no one per him even comes close to that. He has completed 26 of 41 passes for 349 yards today. What are your thoughts on Baker Mayfield’s performance today?

The next thing I know, I am screaming and shouting and cheering for the players on the field.
