Former Eagles player Edwards was with the network from 2007 to 2017 before leaving to coach at Arizona State University. In his four seasons there, the team finished above .500 three times. After his coaching stint, Edwards made his way back to ESPN in 2022, and he was welcomed with open arms. “When Herm left for Arizona State, we said we’d keep a seat open for him. After all he did for us on the air and behind the scenes, he deserved that. We are thrilled to welcome him back,” ESPN Vice President of Production Seth Markman shared.
So the transition back to the network was not surprising. With a new contract extension, Edwards will contribute to ABC’s Good Morning America in addition to his regular roles on morning and late-night SportsCenter.

While Edwards briefly ventured into college football, Saturday also had a coaching stint. The former NFL analyst took the interim head coach position for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 for eight weeks after the team fired Frank Reich. He returned to ESPN after the Colts hired Shane Steichen. He had initially joined the network in 2013, right after his retirement. The 6x Pro Bowler has since covered marquee events, including the Super Bowl, NFL Free Agency, and the NFL Draft.

Another seasoned member of the broadcasting team is Hawkins. The former Bengals player became well-known for introducing a virtual reality segment on NFL Live last season, utilizing StatusPro, a sports technology company he co-founded. Dan Orlovsky was also part of it. He also hosts segments on SportsCenter via Snapchat. Over the years, Hawkins has continued to make long strides, earning Emmy nominations and more.
And McCourty is a newer addition to the ESPN family. This is his second year with the network. Soon after the news, he took to social media to express his excitement and wrote, “And we’re BACK.” While Hawkins shared a few salute emojis in response to the news, Edwards wrote, “Excited to be back with the Gang.”
Now, this comes after ESPN made headlines for having Rich Eisen host the SportsCenter for the first time in 22 years.
