The Los Angeles Rams completely dominated the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card game. The change in venue to State Farm Stadium in Glendale due to LA wildfires didn’t dampen their fierceness. And the Vikes’ fans’ hearts broke as their team crumbled down in the first half. It was terrible! NFL legend Troy Aikman has reacted to it with strong words.

Former Cowboys legend Troy Aikman was announcing the Rams vs Vikings game with Joe Buck. During the game, he gave a verdict on the ugly performance by Vikings QB Sam Darnold. Troy Aikman said, “That’s the last pass Sam Darnold would make in Vikings uniform, the decisions to come for this organization.” But why did the former legend make such a comment?

Because everything was cool and nice in the game until the Vikings’ veteran quarterback got sacked six times before halftime. According to reports, Sam Darnold is the first NFL quarterback to get sacked six times in the first half since 1987. Embarrassing! Interestingly, the QB who had that feat in 1987 was Vikings’ Wade Wilson. That happened during the NFC Championship game.

After the game, Troy Aikman reacted to the Vikings’ game again. He said, “It doesn’t really matter that you win 14 games. Not that you got to go win the Super Bowl because one team gets to do that. But when you don’t even win a playoff game, you’re lumped in with all the teams, really, that didn’t make the postseason. So, this is a tough one.” That’s a bold take that would anger Vikings fans. Actually, people reacted heavily to Troy Aikman’s, “at least he cost some money” remark on Sam Darnold.

In the wild-card game, the defense sacked the Vikings’ QB nine times—a horrible performance. He completed 25 out of 40 passes, which is with 62.5% completion rate. After passing for only 245 yards, Darnold passed for one touchdown and threw one interception. And his QBR ratings for the wild card game? Only 13.5.

But amid all the muck of opinions and comments, Troy Aikman’s colleague has made a strong comment on Kevin O’Connell.

According to experts, the Vikings‘ time management was not up to the mark. And no wonder Troy Aikman’s announcement colleague Joe Buck commented on it. Joe Buck said, “The Vikings, I assume, are aware they’re down 18 points,” while mocking Kevin O’Connell’s clock management.

Aikman also reacted immediately to it as, “I was kinda thinking the same thing.” Buck commented further, “I mean, they’re running the ball, they’re slow to the line.” In the fourth quarter, the clock was showing 6:24 minutes left while Minnesota was trailing by 18 points (9-27). The comments were mean, though, but we can’t say he made a 100% wrong analysis.

Well, the wild-card stage is over now, but Sam Darnold will be under scrutiny for sure. Troy Aikman said, “This organization faces upcoming decisions,” hinting at a possible non-renewal of his 10-million-dollar, one-year contract.
