Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers are finally picking up the slack. This week, they’re locking in their core guys, including Brock Purdy. The quarterback had been waiting a long time for his deal, and now it’s official. He just signed a five-year extension worth $265 million. But that’s not all. Another big update rolled out from the team, as one more team captain got the recognition he’s earned.
And former 49ers star Deebo Samuel couldn’t be happier for him, as he sent off a message for that captain, Fred Warner. On Monday, Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers gave their defensive captain a three-year extension worth $63 million. This deal made him the highest-paid off-ball linebacker in NFL history. So, obviously, it’s huge news, not just for Warner, but for his fans and the entire team. And even though he’s no longer on the roster, Deebo Samuel couldn’t be more thrilled.
The former 49er gave his old teammate a shoutout on Instagram by dedicating a story and a powerful message. He posted a game-day photo of Warner, who wears number 54, and wrote, “Yesssir money man 54 kongrats my brother. Well deserved, keep stepping and being you, all love my brother.” Along with the message, Samuel tagged Warner, clearly fired up about the news.

This March, Samuel himself reworked his deal with the Washington Commanders. His new contract locks in $17 million guaranteed for this season, with another $3 million possible through incentives. Even though it’s just a one-year deal in his new home, Samuel’s heart still beats for the red and gold.
When Brock Purdy landed his five-year extension, Samuel was just as pumped. He gave his former QB a simple but heartfelt shoutout: “Congrats, brother, well deserved.” No matter where he plays, it’s clear Deebo Samuel’s love for Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers runs deep. And right now, he’s cheering hard for Purdy and Warner.
Fred Warner is the third one in Kyle Shanahan’s team to get an extension!
Fred Warner just got what he earned-big time. Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers handed him a massive three-year extension worth $63 million, locking him in through 2029. That makes him the highest-paid off-ball linebacker in NFL history. It’s a huge moment, not just for Warner, but for the entire Niners squad. After all, this is their third major extension since the draft. First, they gave Brock Purdy his five-year, $265 million deal. Then George Kittle got his four-year, $76.4 million extension. And now it was Warner’s turn.

No doubt, Fred Warner has been the heartbeat of their defense, showing up every single season, even playing through a broken ankle last year. The man had 131 tackles and still never backed down. And this deal wipes out any contract drama heading into summer. So, no holdouts and no off-field tension.

Warner’s resume speaks for itself. Four-time first-team All-Pro, nearly 900 tackles, and a leader both on and off the field of Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers. He’s now one of just three active players, besides Harrison Smith and Lavonte David, having double-digit sacks, picks, and forced fumbles. So yeah, he’s earned every penny!
