The Cowboys are gonna kick off the 2025 season on September 5, and fans are thinking about something else. Football fans are refusing to buy the average $1,743 tickets and question whether Dak Prescott will have a successful season. The highest-paid QB is under the spotlight as the season, week 1, is on the horizon, and there is no confidence among fans that the Cowboys will win this season or not. That’s why an NFL analyst and former NFL QB are taking a jab at Prescott.
Chris Simms, former Buccaneers QB (2003 to 07), was on Kay Adams’s Up and Adams podcast. They were discussing the Cowboys and their upcoming season. Their conversation, first of all, their stats revealed a shocking fact about the 2025 playoffs possibility of the Cowboys. Chris Simms, while talking about the Cowboys and Prescott, said, “I don’t want to say he’s holding them back, but he is the highest paid player in football. And I would say he’s not near the top five quarterbacks in football.” Prescott has signed a $60 million per year deal for four years with the Cowboys, which is the highest in league history.

Simms also added, “Is he even a top 10 quarterback? I don’t know about that either. Can Dak Prescott and that offense in the passing game hold it down for them? I think those are things that I look at.” The 31-year-old QB landed in 2016 as a fourth-round pick and eventually got the starting QB job. But it seems like he is not shouldering the team and its success. Since his arrival, the Cowboys reached the postseason five times, but couldn’t go beyond a divisional round. Many expected Dak Prescott to bring the Lombardi Trophy after a 30-year drought, but it sometimes seems unlikely.
He has played 9 seasons with the Cowboys. In these 9 years, Prescott has played 122 games and completed 66.8% of his passes to land 213 TDs. In comparison to Jared Goff, who also completed his 9th year in the NFL, has made 222 touchdowns, after playing 134 games in nine years. But Prescott’s performance couldn’t let the Cowboys win big. He never helped the team go and win the Super Bowl.
Fans fumed against Prescott when he was injured in the 2024 season. This was the same year the Cowboys agreed to give Prescott a $260,000,000 deal. He led the team to an 8-9 win-loss record when the Cowboys fans were expecting a playoff appearance. But his team couldn’t make it to the playoffs. Well, that’s all about the 2024 season. But what about the upcoming season? Is it going to be different from all previous performances by Prescott and the Cowboys?

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys to have another underwhelming season?
While talking about Dak Prescott, Kay Adams revealed on her podcast that the Cowboys have less chance of getting into the playoffs in 2025. A former NFL Network reporter said, “Seven and a half wins is their projected total. I think it’s low.” She predicted that the Cowboys have low chances to be in the postseason this year, too. “Not projected to make the playoffs at plus 180,” the reporter also added.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Dak Prescott truly worth his $60 million contract, or are the Cowboys overpaying for mediocrity?

In the past 25 NFL seasons, the Cowboys have entered the playoffs only 10 times. That also doesn’t involve any conference win or loss. In fact, since the Cowboys won their last Super Bowl in 1995, the Cowboys have never played a conference game. And that’s why their probability of playing in the postseason is low.

Last season, it was Dak Prescott’s injury and other players’ injury issues. Along with that, Mike McCarthy also had an issue working in the franchise. But what about the upcoming year? The Cowboys are preparing hard for the 2025 season, as Dak Prescott is also in beast mode. Let’s see if he can lead the team to a conference title, at least.
