The New York Jets are preparing for redemption in the season ahead. After pinning their hopes on Aaron Rodgers, the team ended with a 7–10 score for the second consecutive year, owing to the quarterback’s Achilles injury. But head coach Robert Saleh is promising a better year ahead.

Saleh is excited about the upcoming season, with the Jets’ veteran quarterback expected to return in full form. The HC further affirmed the QB’s plans to make a full-fledged attack and fulfill the Jets’ dreams from last season. With fresh additions to the offensive line, the franchise plans to leave no stone unturned in their run for the Super Bowl in the upcoming season.

The Jets’ head coach talked about the recent changes in the team at the Annual League Meeting. Despite their hopes crashing to the ground with Rodgers’ season-ending injury, Saleh promises to “accomplish the things we were supposed to accomplish a year ago.” The HC further promises their four-time MVP QB’s return and shares his mindset for this season.

“Aaron, he’s on a mission,” Saleh said, as per NFL.com. “He’s doing his rehab. He’s out in California, I believe. Obviously, he’s taking some time for himself. He was ready to go last year, man. So I know he’s getting ready. We speak to him often. I don’t want to speak for him, but I am going to speak for him and say that he’s really excited about attacking this season.”

The Jets build their new roster around Rodgers

Last season, apart from the absence of Aaron Rodgers, one of the most prominent gaping holes was their offensive line. However, New York plans to make it foolproof, with some additions to the crew. The signing of Dallas’ tackle Tyrion Smith and trading Ravens’ Morgan Moses and guard John Simpson are all steps in the right direction. Saleh talked about how the new players will positively affect the team’s mind space.

“You look at a guy like Morgan Moses who played on a torn pec last year. Just an old school soul in the sense that he just shows up to work, works his tail off, and a guy who’s going to pull people with him,” said Saleh. “Tyron Smith has played at a very high level for a very long time, and John Simpson at guard, I mean, he’s like the definition of strain. The way he works and kind of his story. He’s kept battling to prove he belongs in this league. Excited about the mental makeup of the room. Obviously we’ve got some really good football players, but we’ve also really added to the mental makeup of that room.”
