Week 10 was an uphill battle for the Atlanta Falcons. While they showed major flashes in their 31-25 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, there was a glaring reason why the Falcons couldn’t cut it in the end. Third-down efficiency, or a complete lack of it.

The Falcons had 8 whole opportunities to convert a third-down attempt. Their result? Zero conversions. But when asked about these 3rd down woes, wide receiver Drake London deflected all the blame to play-calling.

“I just run the routes I’m given,” said London.

London notably had just 8 catches, and through them gained a massive 104 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion. Overall, the offense couldn’t find its spark, gaining just 290 yards, including London’s powerful performance. But as his team now falls to a 3-6 record, extending their losing streak to 4 straight games, he knows the entire locker room shares his frustration.

“We just lost the game,” said London post-game. “I don’t feel great. I think I can speak for the rest of the team; they don’t feel great either. Just got to get over this hump. Trying to get some wins. Get the first win so we can start the domino effect.”

Despite this loss in Berlin, Drake London had a major milestone alongside quarterback Michael Penix Jr. London already made his hunger for wins clear, and Penix doesn’t seem to be in a celebratory mood, either.

History was made with Drake London, but Michael Penix Jr. is unhappy

Following the Week 10 game, Michael Penix Jr. and Drake London have a really cool stat going for themselves. Penix took the reins of the Falcons back in Week 16 last season. Since then, no quarterback-receiver duo has been able to top the 1,002 yards they’ve both gained together. But when reporters brought up this stat, Penix shut it down.

“It doesn’t matter. We didn’t win.”

That frustration is understandable. The Falcons seemed to have a fire burning in their defense. Not only did they hold a lead for most of the second half, but their defense also sacked Colts quarterback Daniel Jones a whopping 7 times. But that wasn’t enough. The Falcons’ secondary simply couldn’t hold down Colts’ running back Jonathan Taylor.

Taylor was unstoppable. Rushing for 244 yards across 32 attempts, he got three touchdowns, including the overtime score that sealed the game. Taylor was even left unchecked for a 2025 season-best 83-yard touchdown run. If that wasn’t enough, he also hauled in 3 catches for 42 yards. It didn’t matter that the defense was pressuring his quarterback; no one could match his wheels.

Michael Penix Jr., Drake London, and the entire Falcons locker room now carry this frustration into Week 11. Head coach Raheem Morris isn’t mincing words on their loss. As they face the Carolina Panthers next, there’s still a chance they can climb back up. And if they win, will that be the beginning of the “domino effect” London spoke about? We can only wait and watch it unfold.
