“We just didn’t execute when we needed to. The defense got a lot of big-time stops for us, and we didn’t put points on the board,” Michael Penix Jr told the press after the game when asked what made the game tough.
He completed 12-28 passes for 177 yards and scored a touchdown. The Colts rushed for 323 yards while the Falcons secured just 140 rushing yards. Resulting in the Colts holding almost double the possession time over the Falcons, making their runs composed during the final drives. The Falcons’ offense’s third and fourth down efficiency was 0/8 and 0/0, and the defense stopped third and fourth down plays of the Colts by 2/12 and 2/4, posting 3 sacks.

The defense strength did provide opportunities for the Falcons, but miscues and early releasing under pressure held the scoring back. Yes, the offense did not string the plays with precise execution, and Raheem Morris highlighted why.
HC assesses and appreciates the team’s efforts
In a game that looked like it could have gone either way, with helmets clashing and both teams under pressure. The Colts had 74 total plays, and the Falcons had enough opportunities in 60 for the win.

“They got some succession issues, made us run around for a little bit. We had a couple of drops. Our guys came out, fought well, and played hard. Michael always plays well and fights hard, along with all those guys. So we got to find a way to get better,” Raheem Morris said.
The Falcons almost matched the Colts in passing and defense, yet could not cope with the offense. It was a performance that displayed why they are one of the best offenses in the league. With the latest acquisition in the defense of Sauce Gardner provided just enough balance to keep the Falcons’ Offense at bay.

The Colts generated 519 yards, averaging 7 yards per play on the field, compared to the Falcons’ 290 yards with an average of 4.8 yards. Despite the numbers the Falcons put up a tough fight with their defensive mind and muscle dominating the third quarter. Until inaccurate throws, mostly overthrows and intentional grounding due to the mounting pressure by the Colts gave it away.
It was entertainment all around until running back Jonathan Taylor gave the audience a show of athleticism and finished it with a touchdown. Marking his 3rd touchdown of the game and the 8th victory for the franchise this season.
As Michael Penix blamed himself and called for action, Raheem appreciated the team’s efforts and praised the quarterback for putting up a fight.
