The New Orleans Saints haven’t sniffed the playoffs since 2020, but they are hoping this year finally flips the script. They brought in Kellen Moore as head coach, fresh off a Super Bowl run with the Eagles, hoping he could breathe life into the team. To add to the excitement, they grabbed rookie quarterback Tyler Shough in the second round of the draft. Now that the 2025 schedule’s out, all eyes are on how Moore will handle the quarterback room, especially Shough, after Derek Carr’s retirement. There’s a lot riding on it. But before the games begin, it appears one big shift has already happened in the city.

The NFL released the Saints’ schedule for the year on Wednesday. Kellen Moore’s team will be starting off their regular season with a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. As the schedule of the team was announced, the HC had a moment with the reporters in a press conference. At that time, he announced a new coaching hire – the team’s angry coach.

Moore said to the reporters, “Good morning, everyone. Thanks for coming out. I’d like to share a few comments. This is my first year at the Saints. I know a lot of you are still getting to know me. I’m a pretty laid-back guy. I know how to keep my cool under pressure, and I think it’s a really important quality of being a head coach of the NFL. I also think it’s important to keep a healthy and respectful dynamic with the media and the members (who are) a part of that. So behind me, you’ll see my angry translator, Coach Kazi…..He may jump in to help answer and clarify (0:37) a few questions here.

A big, tough-looking guy in a Saints t-shirt suddenly appeared behind Kellen Moore and stood beside him, stone-faced. Right as the press conference kicked off, a reporter tossed out a question about Moore coming off a Super Bowl win and now facing a rough schedule. Without missing a beat, the “angry coach” snapped back, “Tough? The entire NFL is tough. So, whether it be Seattle’s 12th man, the best man, Superman, we are going to prepare ourselves like we do any other team.” Then he turned up the heat. “You know what else is tough?” he growled, glaring at the reporter. “Listening to you talk. Next question.” Ouch!

But before anyone takes it the wrong way, let us reveal that this wasn’t your typical presser. That “angry coach” was actually Rob Kazi, a comedian and New Orleans actor, brought in to kick off the Saints‘ schedule release with some laughs. Even Moore couldn’t hold back a grin.

Later, in the presser, another reporter, bald and bold, asked about the infamous 2019 no-call against the Rams. This time again, Kazi didn’t miss a beat. “Let me tell you something, Baldy,” he said, dramatically pointing. “No, I wasn’t here for the no-call. Do I understand how the fans feel? I got a feeling. The guy was 10 yards away. The ball was 10 yards away before he even tackled the guy. It was blatant. Speaking of no calls….you will not be called on to ask another question. How about that? Next.

Wonder how Moore, who has the team’s responsibility, controlled his laughter! But anyway, fans had a lot of fun, with many appreciating the script and demanding big from Kellen Moore.

Of course, Kellen Moore should hire Kazi, as another summed it up perfectly: “This man needs to be present at every postgame presser this season.” And honestly? That’s not a bad idea at all!
