Patrick Mahomes may have some serious competition coming up! No, it’s not in the quarterback department, but a linebacker is matching his speed. LBs are not really supposed to be fast. Instead, they need to be heavy and powerful to sack QBs. Speed is just an add-on. But one future NFL LB is combining the two in a deadly combo.
It’s hard to find an NFL draft hopeful who’s had a more impressive offseason than Braden Fiske. His stellar displays have propelled him up draft boards, with many now pegging him as a potential first-round pick.

Braden Fiske beats Patrick Mahomes
Fiske was the star of the show during his 40-yard dash, clocking in at 4.78 seconds, the quickest time among all defensive tackle prospects. He followed it up with an impressive 33.5-inch vertical jump and a 9’9″ broad jump, once again outperforming every other interior defensive lineman. Once he crossed the 40-yard line, he let out a victorious, “OH YEAH”. And it so happens that he beat Mahomes’ record by 0.02 seconds.
Braden Fiske hit them with the OH YEAH on the 40 😂. Now QBs will know who sacked them when they hear that OH YEAH coming @bradenfiske55 pic.twitter.com/JabLGbsYbU

According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Fiske becomes the first defensive tackle since Tank Johnson in 2004 to top his position group in all three tests. His exceptional performance had social media abuzz as fans and analysts alike reacted to his remarkable showing. @ariellebc90 said, “This boy is COOKING holyyyy”, while @TS31534865 said that it was an even more incredible feat as he weighed much more than Mahomes. “Our boy out here running a faster time than Patrick Mahomes with 70 extra lbs on him 👏👏❤️🍢❤️”
The NFL also joined in on the banter and poked fun at Mahomes.

The NFL trolls Mahomes on X
Mahomes had pre-empted the trolling by the league and posted on X saying, “As the combine starts this week! All i ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore 😂😂😂” Did the league listen to him? Not at all. In fact, that is exactly what they did. Mahomes replied to that with a GIF, expressing his playful sadness.
